Just got myself the official note 2 flip cover. Surprised to see some people dont like it tbh, it looks really classy and I don't have any issues with the design of it, able to hold it perfectly with it closed and open all the way back.

The only negative thing about it I'd say is that there should be a cutout for the notification LED.
 
Had my Note 2 a week now and it rocks.

Got an Otterbox defender case, a Micro$oft Wedge bluetooth keyboard and a cool little foldable stand thingy that goes on my keyring. Have not used my laptop since.

Great phone! It saves me so much time for work as now I can take notes on the phone which converts it to text and then tidy it up on the train home and save it to dropbox.

getting myself one today on a 6 month contract for £600 total so a little over the cost of the phone with a pay monthly plan.
if i like it great , but if i dont i can get a new phone in the summer (probs the sgs4), plus i get £130 for recycling my sgs2 so pretty good for £470 all in.

edit: ordered ,h now have to cancel as the tariff is a bit funky with its clauses. :(

Has anyone come accross an app/service called "GPSD" using up a lot of battery at all?

Ive only had it pop up on my phone last couple of days, yesterday was at 35% and so far today 22%.

Ive had a quick scan around to find something, and 2 things came up (turning lattitude off via maps (which was off anyway) & Remote Control settings via settings, disable it.)

I did the latter fix today, and 3 hours have passed and its gone up with 4%.

What do I need to do to watch video's on this? I have Utopia in mkv format, at 720p. Do I need to do anything in terms of reformatting to make it play nicely on the Note?
What would be the best free video player? Is the one samsung provides decent?
 
So, I got this beast of a phone this morning, and I'm in love. :) But I was just wondering if there are any note specific apps out there for me to download?
 
I can't seem to receive messages from iPhones correctly.

iMessage group chats don't group and images aren't coming through. All the solutions on google are a mess, SMSgo seems to kind of work by using the MMS enable procedure.

My move to android isn't going as smoothly as I had hoped. Nice thing here is that I appear to have a lot of options.

Have there been any reports of any sds issues on the Note 2 that were reported on some S3 devices? Contemplating to root but won't risk it if there are any known issues!
 
SDS can happen on the Note 2, yeah. Latest firmwares have fixed the issue though (LL7 onwards). If it dies from SDS they can't tell that you were rooted anyway, since the phone is dead :) (if you're just having problems with it that are from SDS but it isn't dead you should be able to go back to nonrooted/0 counter state easily as well).
 
Hmmm, I only read that if you get the SDS and cant get into your phone only Samsung can get into it again and check if you were rooted or not?
 
Anyone had any experience of using the note as media player hooked up to a tv, via the hdmi adaptor? Strangely we dont currently have a great setup for this in my house, I have a couple of laptops but neither have hdmi out. If I want to watch iplayer on my tv I can hook up a laptop but the sound comes out the laptop!

Can the note output video at a higher resolution thsn its own screen, e.g. could it play 1080p?
 
Got a problem with my sd card being removed installed corrupt every time the phone wakes up, reading online seems to be mixed reviews if it's the card or the phone.

Any ideas

If you have an SD adapter you could try popping your micro sim into there and running an error test through Windows to see if it reports any issues with the micro SD card itself?
 
What is the lastest stable rom for the Note 2? I fancy a bit of a change. I may consider just using a launcher but would like to see if there are any decent roms out there.

Are you using a Sandisk MicroSD? I started having issues with my Sandisk Ultra 32GB where it would keep dismounting and my phone would constantly be "preparing" it or altogether not detect it. I RMA'd it for a Class 10 Verbatim 32GB MicroSD and have had no issues so far. It seems to be a compatibility issue between Samsung and Sandisk and it quite documented online.

Oh no don't tell me that. I just bought a 64GB SanDisk :(

It's working fine on the phone, however, can't edit files on the card if I plug it directly into the rig.

EDIT: Thank you for the tip meatball, I was just about to buy one for my brother.

'm looking into getting one of these & have a very good priced Sim Only deal with O2.

Anyone know where I can get the 4G LTE Version (model N7105) & does it come unlocked to all Networks (Preferably in Grey) ?

I'm thinking of going this route so I can see how the whole 4G situation works out in the UK & it would mean I could later get a Sim Only 4g deal.
