Looks good... I much prefer the parallel-to-screen build than the "rounded corners" design of the S3.

If that design is correct, however, we're definitely looking at 16:9 rather than 16:10 (...I just loaded it into paint and checked pixel counts for vertical and horizontal in order to check). Which would be a shame - I much prefer the 16:10 format for screens rather than 16:9.

For what it's worth, the breakdown of a 5.3" 16:10 vs a 5.5" 16:9 screen is:

5.3" 16:10: 2.81" x 4.49" (12.62 sq in)

5.5" 16:9: 2.70" x 4.79" (12.93 sq in)

So the total screen area does still increase slightly (by 2.4%) in comparison to the Note 1 (though not as much as the 7.7% implied by a raw 5.3" => 5.5" transition at 16:10).

It will be interesting to see what the screen resolution is. Part of me is hoping for a very high-res SAMOLED (pentile) screen, rather than a 1280x720 SAMOLED+ (non-pentile) screen. But I guess we'll see.

I certainly like the idea of the UBP screen, leaving more room for battery. 3000mAh anyone?! :D

I would personally prefer option B.

Apparently using a pentile matrix is better for battery life and that is why Samsung supposedly went with the pentile matrix for the GS 3 instead of the RGB matrix, as well as not being really required since the pentile effect isn't that noticeable with a high res. and likewise for the one S and the SAMOLED screen (according to HTC and Samsung anyway :p)

BTW the photo above of the note II is apparently just a mockup by a fan.

EDIT:

Although having a higher res. would affect the battery life more than the matrix panel type used, hmmmmmm.......... :p

All depends on battery life for me. I would go for what ever one had substantially better battery life, if there isn't much difference then option B.

This is the phone i've been waiting for, basically if it comes with a 720p screen i'm going for the S3, but if its the rumoured 1050, then it's the note 2

A quick rundown / summary of the various "leaked" designs / prototypes for the Note2:

http://www.phonearena.com/news/Sams...k-up-time_id33651#1-Galaxy-Note-II-mock-up-#1

I'm still hoping for a 16:10 screen with a better resolution than the previous note (at 1280x800), but a 16:9 screen at 1280x720 seems to be the more commonly accepted outcome...

I'm not too fussed whether it comes with JB or ICS. If it comes with ICS then an update to JB must surely follow within a few months. I'm more interested in whether it will support the 1800Mhz band for 4G goodness :)
