****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

they can't confirm an order, but they can take your money.

Yea, didnt realise they had taken my money on my card till I checked today, thought you guys had money taken out as they ahd been dispatched and I was lat to order on teh PAYG train!

Little bit concerned that my TopCashBack hasn't tracked with O2 yet. I'll give it a few more days but I'll be annoyed if I have to start raising tickets, it always seems to take forever that way.

but its backwards compatible with a normal sim tho right?

Yes, the only thing that can vary is that not all data bolt-ons will work on all phones. For example, O2 have 'The Works for iPhone' as the top data bolt-on, which is 1GB, you have to change that to a standard data bolt-on if you put the SIM in an Android phone (as an example).

Other than that you just need an adapter so that it will fit.

Becuase of getting no confirmations of even placing an order?
Dont get me wrong im a biut miffed at that as well.

That, plus when I was on the phone today I spoke to around 7 different people in 3 departments and they kept passing me onto each other. One of them cancelled my original order so I had to reorder it and now my credit card has been charged £800 because it will take 3 working days for the refund to go through.

I am more annoyed about the fact that others who ordered theirs after me have had theirs dispatched and mine hasn't been. Even when the new order was placed today, I have received no emails confirming this.

Head Office are going to get an ear full come Tuesday morning, because I am very ****ed off and they better do something to make things right... and I am not just talking about getting my phone to me when I expect it.

cheers robbo

zenf i just realised we will need to get our phones unlocked, let me know how and how much you get it done for. i think the going rate is for a tenner

I think if it's on contract then it'll be unlocked already, it's only on PayG that they lock it.

I have my dispatch notification from Phones4U now, about time.

Velkommen and good first post! The Mali 400 has turned out to be a cracking little performer (looking forward to the new "tri-pipe" architecture of the Norwegian/Cambridge? team)
It whoops both nVidia's first attempt and probably Qualcomms Adreno 220 too, although it can't match Hertfordshire's finest :p (iPhone 5 will be the undisputed gaming king until SE ramp up playstation hardware)

Forget the 200MHz increase, it's just Samsung chasing headlines. All basic 40/45nm A9 cores can hit 1.5Ghz no probs (this is ocUK after all :))

So, why is Tegra 2 a mid range SoC and Exynos high end?

  • Exynos has the full 64-/128-bit SIMD NEON engine (nVidia used the basic VFP option to cut costs, could this be why Exynos eats Flash for breakfast?)
  • Dual-channel DDR2/DDR3 interface (Tegra 2 just has a single 32-bit DDR2 interface, Exynos has twice the theoretical bandwidth)
  • Better GPU (as fluke2k posted it should over ~50% faster, the extra bandwidth will be helping. Kal-El should be miles better...)
  • Superior Encode/Decode (Compare the Optimus 2X 1080p video capture and video playback of all the other Tegra 2 devices)
Tegra 2 was in production before the iPad came out don't forget, it's an old design now...

Maybe, or they are just hopeless

Well maybe, they did tell me as my order was an upgrade on an exisiting contract I would have to wait 7-10 days for stock but it is actually at this very moment at my local RM depot awaiting collection at 7am on tuesday :)

For those concerned about battery life, yesterday I used it for a few short phonecalls, about an hours web browsing and satnav for an hour and a half while playing music through my stereo. By roughly 2pm it had 50% charge left. IMO that's pretty good, satnav usually decimated phone battery.
