****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Okay. I've got it looking cleanish. Happy enough anyway. Just need to sort the lock screen - can't be arsed to log my cc details but will get round to it unless theres a decent free app?
new to all this android malarky and the phone seems jam packed with stuff i'm certain never to use. So, how do i best remove all the crap? In idiots terms please! I think i've stopped the hubs running but not sure. I keep doing 'force stop' on the standard messages app (as i'm using Go sms pro) but i'm still getting double notifications - how do i stop it? also, someone sent me an MMS and i had to click to download the image - is that normal?
How do i set Dolphin browser hd to work when i click the icon on the bottom right of my homescreen?
Most annoyingly (and i may have missed it), how the hell do i stop the full battery notification chime and vibe? It's woken me up two nights running grrrr.

Don't force stop it, disable notifications in the stock app!

Also, WidgetLocker is the best (and only?) customisable lockscreen app, I suggest putting in CC details into Google Checkout and buying it :)

If you have another browser installed then Android will prompt which to load when clicking on a bookmark or a link from an email or app.

I'm trying to set a wallpaper but no matter how much I faff around with the resolution on my PC it will always stretch it on the phone, any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong? :)

android will stretch it by default. Android wants a square picture.

If you want to stop the background moving with screens launcher pro has an option to 'disable wallpaper scrolling'....so you can have a 480*800 wallpaper.

Do you guys have these both enabled?

I have both of them enabled. I read beautiful widgets is pretty demanding though maybe that's the culprit.

Hey guys got mine on 3 but i find the internet when not connected to my wifi abit slow at times theres those up and down arrows by the signal they light up by flashing are they meant to stay on or do they flash? if i load up a youtube vid i do have to stop it to let it buffer is this normal or should it stream with ease or is this dependant on the network provider. Also does gps always need enabling sorry for newb qs but ive come from a nokia 5800 and not used to all these toys.
Thanks
Tom

I deleted all my cookies, checked tracking using their tracking checker then ordered. If your card gets declined which mine was don't ask them to push it through on the phone do it online again otherwise it won't track. Took around 4 days to track for me.

OK, so I tried to order and after the Secured by Visa screen it said the transaction was unsuccessful. What should I do now? The fact I am using Chrome anything to do with it or do I just try a second time? Very frustrating.

go to widget locker from your application list. In that mode you can 'long press' on the widget to drag it down to the bin

That's what I thought, managed to remove icons that way but not the sliders? Am I still doing something wrong? The bin doesn't appear when I long-press the sliders :(

Edit: Ignore, did the unmanly thing and read the tutorial and realised how easy it is!

The raging android/blackberry/apple thread in GD has caused me to come here to ask;

I'm about to buy a new phone, pay as you go as I'm not likely to make use of all the extras for the price of a contract. I want a phone with wifi, gps and instant messaging and have found myself looking at the Galaxy Fit (note: not S II) and thought I'd wander over into this thread and ask if the Fit was still a good choice?

You probably realise, I don't know much about phones.

the arrows will flash if the mobile data connection is actually being used - when using the web browser/youtube and when apps are syncing for example.

Download 'speedtest' app to see what 3g/H speeds you are getting - 1Mbps+ should stream ok.

And no GPS would be better left off unless you really need it for example navigation.

the specs are very poor, it will eventually do what you ask but there a lot of better phones out there. Whats your budget?
