****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

All HDTVs will support the cable. It works on normal HDMI ports, just won't charge via them, charging only works on supported HDMI TVs.

Was reading today in the Sun(ok I know) they said that Android has taken over as the most used phones in the UK from Apple, mostly the Desire, Desire HD and Wildfire.

Maybe its time to sell the I4 then :P will have to see what prices this comes down too that's one good thing with Apple stuff they keep there prices well.

Well, considering the cost of Apple products compared to some of the rubbish Android phones its hardly a shocking statistic :p

Not really when the Desire HD came out I saw it going for £469 retail and then the I4 was £499 for the 16gb model, look at the price you can pick a Desire HD up for second hand compared too a I4.

Look at the Galaxy S was that came out at launch for £549 then quickly dropped but now you can pick it up for £200 on ebay, but the Iphone 3g still goes around that price.

Talking from new.

Poor people can get an Android phone for £100 and upwards.

Poor people can get an iPhone for £500 upwards, discounting the 3GS 8GB.

Its an unfair comparison whatever way you look at it to be honest. Compare the amount of people with a DHD compared to an iPhone 4 and the numbers will be a lot closer and possibly favour Apple.

Android will be more dominant because it covers way more price ranges.

You'd be mad crazy to pay the same price for an Android based handset versus a current Gen Apple device, we all know how overpriced Apple products are versus 'real' manufacturers, using the artificially inflated hardware prices (iSupply show IP4 BOM at $187.51/£115.65) allows a much bigger margin for both the manufacturer and the retailer or the network operator. It also allows a great deal of room to lower prices more quickly as newer handsets from competing suppliers come on to the market keeping the older models profitable and giving justification for a higher price on the new handsets or tarrif required to secure one at a low price point.

Android handsets will never hold the value as well as Apple, but if you are sensible and don't pre-order and buy on day of release then in the long run you'll end up paying less over a similar period, even if the re-sale value of our handset is not as high.

I'd advise if you are going with the SGS2 on launch week, expect it to drop massively in value in the space of 3 months, when there are 5 other manufacturers offering handsets with similar specifications or better which takes the shine away from owning the latest and greatest. :)

I guess no one cares, but when you have a family and higher priorities than being an early adopter of the latest handset is not as important than maybe saving a couple of hundred pounds.

That depends entirely on how much money you have, so its different for everyone :)
