****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Khaaan! - I searched on the market for 'DSP Manager' and found another program for free (Called "Volume+(Sound Boost)") which claims to do the same thing.

Any idea if the same EQ settings in the other program will give the same effect? Ta

I'd stick to DSP Manager. You can strip it from CM7 ROM easily or just use my link below.

Code:
http://robbiekhan.co.uk/root/android/apps/DSPManager.apk

I uploaded that from my phone, isn't LAN<>FTP<>LOCAL connectivity awesome :p

Haha. I haven't rooted my phone though and it looks like DSP manager won't work if that's the case?

Please accept my apologies if I'm not explaining this well, I don't have a clue

I don't know actually, should do as DSP Manager does not require any superuser permissions so as long as you enable unknown source app install (in dev settings) it should install fine if you browse to it on your phone via the built in My Files app.

The apk is not a zip file :p Just click it and it will install!

Robbo: Good review!
sarge78: I've not heard of volume/power button issues on any recent smartphone?!

just got off the phone to tmobile. the guy said i wasn't being capped at all no way they could do this but then said i'm on the standard web package which has a speed limit of 5.5 meg per second and the web n walk which is what they sell to their customers with android phones has a speed of 8 meg per second. he said i chose the lower speed (but not speed capped) package with buymobilephones.net as that's all they sell. i also asked does that mean i ca get HSPD (or whatever it's called) and he said yes but it's unlikely as it's new and hadly around and some reason now i'll get speeds of 6.5 meg possibly.

how come peopel are getting better answers then me?

Whoah, did you know, if you select some text and click the "Clipboard" button on the toast notification that you can view all items you've saved to the clipboard in the past?

I like that! Your move, HTC Sense!

Cheers.

How are the power/volume/home buttons holding up? They seem to be a weak link on many phones these days.

(re: Camera quality, has the N8 been relegated to dumbphone already? :D)

Thanks!

The buttons are actually very good, they feel solid and dont move around at all (even the iPhone 4 buttons move around!).

The less said about the N8 the better... ;)

Anyway, my Proporta case has come, its actually for the Desire HD (as I suspected) but it fits the SGS II perfectly and it doesn't move around at all and its a fairly tight fit. Feels very well made, its just what I wanted :)

The case has a metal plate in the front of it, which actually seems a good idea as it offers the screen another level of protection against anything sharply hitting the front of the case. It wont stop a bullet a though, incase any of you are going on holiday to Libya :p

It does not stick out at all at the top, just for the record. Its about 1mm under the top of the leather.

*snip*

Got the same case. It's a little pricey, but for the protective front and the ability to easily remove the phone from the case it's worth it, and I hearty recommend it.

Maybe a obvious question but I own the original galaxy S and only in the last 1-2 months have decent roms come out to finallu fulfil the phones potential.

So why are people suddenly rushing out to sell the SG now for the SG2 some people really will be getting a bargain with the SG.

before anyone says your just jealous etc etc, could just about sell my SG and pay off rest of my contract and get the SG2 but apart from the geek in me common sense tells me to stay with the whlist it's still doing more than a capable job ?!

I think you pretty much answered your own (rather obvious imo) question. Sure, the Samsung Galaxy S does the job... but that doesn't stop people from wanting the latest and greatest version of the phone now does it? The SGS II is improved from the SGS in every sense, and people here are generally techies who like the latest thing.

Agreed but the SG was the best gadget back in July time 2010 everyone was singing it's praises but in retrospect it was pretty crap or average atbest with it's lagging features etc etc.

Dont get me wrong people who need a new phone/due a upgrade good you go get it. But for someone who has a SG Im struggling to understand or is it plai old jealous ha ha!

Hopefully speaking for many former SGS1, now SGS2 users when I say that the latter phone is a very distinct step (or two) up in usability from the former, even with a finely-tuned modded ROM.

NB - Current/former LauncherPro(+) advocates.
Give 'Go Launcher EX' a try - I'm finding it an improvement in most ways (especially as a non-user of LP's widgets)

Well, the SGS II has very few flaws... and all (or the vast majority of) the ones that plagues the original SGS have now been addressed, as well as the specs massively increased.
