Does gmail back up the phone ? Like apps ?
Will a backup that doesnt involve rooting be available at any time?
Hopefully speaking for many former SGS1, now SGS2 users when I say that the latter phone is a very distinct step (or two) up in usability from the former, even with a finely-tuned modded ROM.
NB - Current/former LauncherPro(+) advocates.
Give 'Go Launcher EX' a try - I'm finding it an improvement in most ways (especially as a non-user of LP's widgets)
Well, the SGS II has very few flaws... and all (or the vast majority of) the ones that plagues the original SGS have now been addressed, as well as the specs massively increased.

Just how strong is the glass on it?..scratch wise as I hate having to put protectors on.
Root the device (easier solution coming soon), then install Titanium backup http://matrixrewriter.com/android/
When are you getting yours Richdog?
I remember you made the thread for the original Galaxy S, and then said the iPhone looked better
I'm intrigued, what 'easier solution' is on the horizon?
Hah yeah its been a long road... I should be getting mine in the middle of this month though! I still think the iPhone 4 is a wee bit better than the original SGS, but this phone blows it out of the water imo, it really is a true generational leap above both the original SGS and the iPhone 4.
I am literally desperate to get my hands on this phone now, currently stranded with a Nokia C6 after my crappy Milestone died! *weeps*
Agreed but the SG was the best gadget back in July time 2010 everyone was singing it's praises but in retrospect it was pretty crap or average atbest with it's lagging features etc etc.
You must be having fun with that C6!
