****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

has anyone used google navigation with theirs yet? very interested to hear how hot this little beasty gets given there are plenty of people stating it gets rather hot when gaming ...
my desire used to get very hot when gps was in use so hoping the gs2 doesn't melt :D

Not yet, need to get a car holder first. My desire used to get so hot it would shutdown the charging :o

Is everyone happy with the build quality? are you likely to survive a drop on the floor from waist height?

I dropped mine from a kitchen bench face down onto a laminate floor the day after I got it! (Ironically enough I was fitting a screen protector at the time).

Fortunately it landed flat, face down, rather than on a corner and it seems to be no worse for the experience.

I'm building a car dock when my case arrives but I have used it for navigation and it doesn't get very hot, not as hot as when gaming or using the camcorder.

Here's a video capture from pocketnow with the SGS2. I'm not too interested in the video quality as it is good enough for me, especially lower resolutions to save memory. I am more concerned about the audio. It doesn't sound very good and other videos seem to corroborate it. What do you think?

But here's one I found today that seems a bit better, but is still a bit off.

Is there some kind of volume limiter on the Galaxy S2 which I can't find?

The highest volume on mine is really disappointing - to the point where I actually took my iPhone to work this morning to listen to music.

By the way - I'm not a 60 year old ex Rolling Stones sound technician ;)

DSPManager it, improves somewhat.

720P and up is excellent from my findings and low down + ambient pickup is excellent too.

Multi-CSC Error?

I flashed the new ROM (9100XWKDD_I9100XXKDH_I9100XEUKD1) and now in Recovery I see the error in the attached pic.

Is this normal? If not, how do I fix it? I've tried reflashing the ROM several times through odin with just the ROM loaded in PDA.

Code:
-- Applying Multi-CSC...
Installing Multi-CSC
Can't access to '/system/csc/XEU/system/'.
Successfully applied multi-CSC.

Having some issues with Orange so far, people call me and get the answer machine part even though I have full bars with orange, then call again and get through, I often get messages saying etc has tried to call.

I get text messages late sometimes 1 day later I find this a bit of a joke really as I never had these issues on T-Mobile.

I still have a T-Mobile contract which I had on Android so has the 3gb allowance still, I can do a speed test and hit around 1968kbs speed with a much worse signal than on Orange, when I do the same test on the Orange sim I am lucky to hit 659kbs.

I moved from orange to T mobile precisely because of the issues you mention, they've gradually been getting worse over the last 12 months. I'm very happy with T mobile so far, much beyer than what I put up with from orange.

From an earlier post by Khaaan!, see Want to make your SGS2 sound amazing?

I haven't tried it myself yet, I use Poweramp and with a few tweaks on the EQ it sounds good to me.

*snip*

Had a similar message on two occasions, slightly different dependant upon the firmware I was replacing. First was O2 and second was Euro to UK. Must be a left over (i.e. a link stored elsewhere) that isn't replaced (with the new link) until after you boot with the new firmware.

With regards to the volume problem - just tried PowerAmp but it didn't make much difference at all. That DSP manager didn't seem to make much difference either - apart from giving it a bit more bass.

*Really* disappointed with the volume on the headphones. Looks like I might have to cart my iPod with me everywhere now! :(

Make sure you turn the preamp slider up as well as the main volume in poweramp. If you press on the chart near the bottom (next to the volume dial) for the current preamp settings it'll take you to the preamp controls which is a load of sliders and dials.

Near the top, on the left is a big slider with 'preamp' underneath. Whack this up all the way.

For me with the preamp up i can only get to 80% vol before it gets uncomfortably loud.

Got you. Had a go with that and it's definitely noticeably louder. Still a bit of a way off of the iPhone though...

Of course - this doesn't work for movies etc so I think I have to use that DSP manager to boost the volume on streaming media or AVIs
