****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Got the phone. PLaying with for a few hours, got Launcher Pro on there.

LOVE: Screen, Feel, Speed, Sound Quality, Camera. Space for Apps!!
LIKE: Kies air but don't like 100MB limit. Fast boot time. Quick GPS lock. Pull down controls.
Don't like: Lock Screen, default power control widget. Wi-Fi strength.
HATE: Fear of it getting nicked!!

Also, robbo mentioned the lock screen has been fixed. Previously when the phone was turned on you would see the home screen for a fraction of a second before the lock screen covered it.

I'm not sure if *that* has been fixed but the lock screen is more responsive than it was (easier to unlock) and the phone wakes faster unless it has been idle for a long time.

Does anyone know when this comes out on Orange? I am seriously thinking of upgrading to this handset. They told me sometime in June on the phone, but the guy sounded uncertain and hesitant to provide even that. They MAY be able to offer me the phone to me for £80 on a £20ish contract (300txtxs, 300mns, internet) but this seems sketchy as they don't even know the phone release date!

Still looking into iTunes integration on a Mac, which is essential for me. There is an application called iTuneMyWalkman, http://ilari.scheinin.fidisk.fi/itunemywalkman/, does anyone have any experience using it?

Also how do media players work on Android/Galaxy S2? Is there a "stock" android player, or is this something that is replaced by the manufacturer of the device? Same question re Camera apps. I seem to recall seeing some reviews where different Android phones have different music players and camera applications, just wanted to know how easy it is just to use the stock one (which must be adequate else it would not be on Nexus One/S), rather than downloading and trying different apps for basic functions like Camera and Media.

Finally, screen protectors, effect on brightness, effect on capacitive accuracy (Angry Birds related!!), recommendations, TALK TO ME.

Here you go:

I just had a call from Orange, as i previously sent an email to sales asking when Samsung Galaxy S 2 will be available from their official shop.

I was told that "Soon".

So i expressed my disappointment and guy on the phone said he will go and double check. So he did.

Unofficially SGSII will be available in official Orange shops at the beginning of June 2011.

Sorry nevermind...connected...hit home button whilst it was connected then it all started working...firmware is coming in now.

Evening all.

I've just got my SGSII today on Orange. I've never had a smart phone before, what are things I should do? Any must have apps? I've never rooted a smart phone (whatever that means), so please keep it simple for now :)

A few questions:

1. Is there something I need to install on my PC, such as a management app to control things on the phone and copying movies over?

2. How do I get movie files on the phone and what format do the files need to be in?

3. How do I change the 'theme' on the desktop for want of a better explanation?

Thanks.

what email apps people using on this? i'm trying to use the samsung one but in typically android style i'm already having issues adding the second account and i don't know why. i've used k9 and it was only ok didn't feel too swish if that makes sense. i need it to be able to handle 9+ different email accounts well and importantly be able to back it up so i don't need to enter the accounts again for the millionth time when i update the phone software.
