****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

So this special super glass really isnt any of that, its just pretty much normal glass thats not resistant to the phones own weight being dropped against a stone?
Im not talking about picking up a stone and rubbing it all over the screen or anything silly, but say dropped on the ground..its cant resist any of that?
Ya know theirs stronger multi-layer plastics on the markets that would resist better than that.

From looking around the net in the past I have seen lots of horror stories with Gorilla glass where people have got scratches on from nothing more than it being in there pocket on its own.

People talking about the glass. Gorilla Glass is generally designed to be shatter resistant, not scratch resistant.

Anyway, my phone has been unplugged for 2days 5hours and its on 35%. Screen has been on for 2 and half hours! Epic

Its easy once you have the rom you want which will be I9100XWKE2 I imagine if you not on orange that is as it causes problems, good guide below showing it.

Thanks for that. I bought the phone outright and am on Vodafone so assume there's no issue. May also be using a T-Mobile SIM in the future depending on how it goes. I'll see how the update goes first, having a browse around though it seems you can have some nifty stuff working (which I may or may not use) if the device is rooted. :)

Just picked up the official case that Khan posted from phones4u, £9.95. I like it, feels great and fits perfectly, I might even go as far to say it makes the phone feels much more impressive that without a case.

I found various MHL cables online for £20 but they are for the Sensation. Since MHL is a standard and not a brand specific format I assume the cheaper HTC one will work on the GS II because the Samsung one is £5 dearer?

Pre-Order right now of course, Early June the release is stated as.

It gives it that "Military" look to it doesn't it, like how a Corsair PSU looks "Military", that it means business :D

Just got mine as well. I do like it but the bottom and the top feel very exposed.

Quidco tracked for the order I placed that got canceled...so in theory it would have worked!

Thanks for that Jacob, gives me a little more hope lol!!! So did you go to Quidco and click the cashback link for affordablemobiles and then on another tab open up the deal you wanted and buy it from that tab and Quidco still tracked it?

Really tempted to get one of these and give my iphone4 to my girlfriend. However when i got the original Galaxy i had GPS issues and Bluetooth issues. Can anyone confirm that these have been ironed out?

The GPS issue was notable when using a jogging application and the BT was when connecting to my pioneer car stereo to play music it kept stuttering.

The only other thing was Golfshot was not available on android, and now it is i can see no reason not to switch. Just need to workout wether to buy it outright or get a contract.

GPS and BT are super in the SGS2

Looked it up, it's about 670 Vickers which is typical mineral glass, I guess they'd just about call that 'scratch resistant'. Trouble is dust/sand/grit is often quartz at a 1000+ Vickers. The only thing you're likely to use that really is scratch resistant is a sapphire glass watch at about 2200 Vickers. I think the bigger problem is the Oleophobic coating which will scratch easier than the glass.
