If the phone is unlocked you can use any network you like if you swap the sim card and the phones are generally worh t alittle more when you come to sell it because of taht reason.

I got an O2 branded phone on contract and it works no probs with an orange sim card (even has the APN settings) guess mine is unlocked? Does that mean it'll work with all networks? not jus O2 and orange?

If it works with your Orange sim card and is a O2 branded phone then it is unlocked and you can use on any network. It would ask for a unlock code when you put in your orange sim if it was'nt.

Could someone please explain how you get to the root menu of an application if something else started that application further down the hierarchy? The back button simply goes back to where the app was launched which is really annoying - as an example the pure music widget when you click on the song playing, will take you straight to the music player to play the song, however if you press the back button, it takes you back to the home screen with the widget, instead of taking u back to the master music menu so you can select other albums etc - there doesn't seem to be a dedicated way to get to an applications menu???

Infact even sometimes if you run the music application from the main menu it goes straight to the player rather than the music menu, which means there is no way to get to this music menu - it seems like pot luck!

Ask the dev to change the code for you?? Surely from what you are explaining the 'back' button is functioning correctly.

Well like I said it happens sometimes by launching the music app from the app drawer if it goes directly to the player bypassing the music menu, you're stuck, going back takes you back to the app drawer - which yes I agree is what you would expect of the back button.

What I don't expect is that there seems to be no logical way when in the music app (which is a default app either from Android or Samsung) to get to this music menu.

Same goes I've noticed with the browser, is the back button supposed to go to the previous page in the links? Or back up to the previous app which launched the browser. It seems like there's some UI things which have been forgotten - all the music app etc would need to do is have an item in the menu key to go to the music menu - simple.

Back button goes back as far as i'm aware, no other way to explain it.
Your problem with the music app is down to the developer. Saying that if the app hasn't closed when you come out of it, if its still running in memory when you launch it it will go to where you left it. pure music widget isn't a stock app so expect more quirkiness when using it. I have no experience with it so cant really so cant comment.

Sorry I shouldn't have mentioned the widget I'm using it was just an example to get the music player to launch straight to the player, when I said "music app" in the previous post, I meant the stock app, the one that comes with the phone which can't be removed etc.... It's this I have a problem with that there seems to be no obvious way to get to the music menu other than using the back button if the app launched directly to the music menu in the first place.

As an example, using only stock apps, select an mp3 from "My files", it will go to the player and play the song - great, what you'd expect - now try and get to the music menu from there, you can't!

I was playing with Autostarts, and noticed that under Wifi State Changed, there's an entry for Wi-Fi Sharing Manager. If my understanding is correct, that means Wi-Fi Sharing Manager is launched every time you toggle wifi on or off, which could explain why it's popping up and draining battery for people.

From xda. This seems to be true on my phone

Put the app back on just for you :)

When i launch it first time it goes to the browser but when i launch it again it goes to where i left off. Back button always takes me back to the music browser unless ive minmised it then used the notification bar to go back into it then the back button takes me...well 'back' to the desktop. Going in that way there is no way i can see to get back to the media browser. :(

A flaw i feel too.

Thanks for doing that! Appreciate the confirmation, I also have been emailed by that widget developer stating:
"Hi,
I know, this is a due to a problem with the Samsung music player (it was already a problem with SGS 1). I don't have any solution for this. Sorry.
Francois"

Which would suggest he's come across that same flaw before - just downloaded poweramp as a test and that does it how I would expect, it has an option to get to the library...

I've just tried to replicate this, and having minimized it (by pressing home) and then returning to the app via the notification bar - back will return me to the media browser.

Is that not what you're experiencing?

No. Back button takes you back to the Home screen. There is no way to the media browser from within the app. pressing the app button in launcher though takes me to the media browser page.

Try playing an mp3 from your file manager directly, then try to get to the music menu from the player that way.... or use anything else that might launch directly to the player etc...
