****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

...Anyone know of a browser that actually has a 'back' option.

Using Dolphin HD at the moment, seems fine apart from no 'back' button.

This is what I was on about in one of my previous posts, the back button on the phone seems to be a catch all for this kind of thing, and it doesn't always "guess" correctly what you intended.

Dolphin Mini has a back button - it's in the bottom left and it appears when you navigate to or from a page. It disappears after a few seconds, but it can be brought back.

Can someone confirm something with the automatic brightness? If I use PowerTutor and watch the power usage for the LCD, auto brightness uses far more power than the equivalent brightness level with the manual setting?

Might just be powertutor isn't SG2 ready yet...

I just set my brightness manually because the auto brightness is often too bright for my needs.

Why get a SAMOLED+ screen if you aren't going to have it at max brightness?

Why have it at max brightness? It's a waste of energy and is actually very very bright anyway at max, only useful outdoors at this setting. I find indoors that one level above minimum, maybe two, is more than enough for comfortable viewing especially when reading serif fonted text (news papers, ebooks etc).

As for browser back button. Boat Browser has dedicated back and forward buttons. I use it as a main browser and it has other cool features too and it's fast and smooth.

Well mine at brightness 9 is the same as my colleague's at brightness 4, so my return for an exchange is warranted.

Still, was reading my ecomics on the way home yesterday and whilst the screen was a bit better than my LCD Desire, it wasn't popping with uber colour and brightness like I wanted.

If you want emphasised colour saturation and tone then enable the dynamic/alt display modes in display settings. By default the colours are more neutral than other AMOLED handsets but they're still vivid enough to be striking and wow you when viewing highly detailed images and video. On my handset anyway.

that's 'cos your phone is screwed. My screen is way better than on the OLED desire. :p

Please report back on ur findings.as.I need mine to last longer than it currently does. If I get up at 7.30am its dead by 9pm unless I charge it. Others have said the battery is great compared to there old phones but compared to my BBC bold 9700 its no where near.

I'm getting far better results by doing two things - making sure wi-fi sharing is force stopped (it will start again if you toggle wireless back on) and turning off automatic brightness (not sure how much difference this makes yet)

My battery is sitting at 73% today which is 15-20% better than normal with the same usage (40 mins HD video and a bit of texting)

Well they have both been set to that all day and I'm already down to 33%. Wud only having gprs data connection and using the net a lot use more power cus the connection is slow? Iv got a load of things running in my services with no.idea what they are. Google maps is running but won't force stop.

Screen Brightness
I don't find the screen that bright outside when sunny. Is that everyone elses experience?
Also, when I try and manually up the brightness to the max level you can't. There is a message which says "To avoid overheating, maximum brightness has been reduced". Does evreyone else have this message on Settings-> Display -> Brightness?

You must have some power savings option enabled, turn it off?

No. maybe your battery is hot and needs cooling. I know my old SGS had warning messages when things got a bit toastie
