****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

How you finding it?

I was thinking about this one, but wanted to wait for the GsII. Recent News is not good, I don't think I can wait that long.

The O2X is a decent handset - comparing it to my OLED HTC Desire i'd say the screen is very bright and colourful head-on but colours shift when off axis...the desires screen is wayy better.

The handset build quality in on par with the desire - maybe even a tad higher.

Performance of the Tegra2 is very snappy - noticeable step up from the snapdragon gen1. RAM of 512MB does get used very quickly...372MB Available and after clearing all the apps there's about 170MB FREE. 1GB would have been ideal for a phone like this.

Over 1GB ROM space free for Apps.

The Look and Design of the phone is very nice...the capacitive buttons look great.

Bottom line is - the phone is for my missus and she's happy with it...but for me coming from the desire i would hold on for the SGS2 as it has the ultimate specs...screen, camera, RAM etc.

HTH.

Makes for a interesting read on the XDA dev forums at the moment.

There's a guy from the UK works for Orange , who proved with pics he as the latest S2 with the 1.2ghz, and he claims it's defiantly earlier than 6th of May for UK release.

It’s frustrating this, because I just made a call to a friend of mine who works for Samsung Mobile UK – I’ve been trying to get him from I heard on this thread about the twitter news. Well I got him on the blower and he is still saying that it’s deffo the 5th/6th May for U.K.

For a few hours there I was heading down the Optimus 2X lane...

Ill jump in and get this phone, but only once custom roms are out and its properly rooted. Phone is no good on stock software....

You never know, it might be quite good.

Thanks for the info man.

Your signature is breaking the rules btw chief.

Samsung Galaxy S II gets upgraded to 1.2GHz, delayed until May or June?

Well, it looks like there's some good news and some bad news for those holding out for a Samsung Galaxy S II. GSM Arena is reporting that Samsung has decided to upgrade the phone's dual-core processor from 1GHz to 1.2GHz, something that was first revealed on Samsung Estonia's Facebook page and has apparently be confirmed by GSM Arena itself from an "internal source." The bad news is that it seems you'll also have to deal with a bit of a delay. Some UK retailers are now listing a release date of May 6th, while Samsung India has tweeted that the phone's global launch has been delayed by "at least" a month, and that it won't roll out before June.

I guess we'll have to wait and see, I hope that guy from Orange is right (if he's telling the truth).

While he may well have been somewhere that had an SGS2 on demo, the way he writes is just... odd.

I wouldn't take him saying that its dead on for a UK release in April to heart at the moment. Though I hope he's right.

I'm honestly going to be killed by the other half though, I've got about 10 high end smartphones sat around gathering dust at the minute, still... I am planning on selling some of them, honest :p

You'll normally find that the kind of people who are posting sensitive pictures of phones at work don't normally have a clue about things like release dates. Like you say it could have been a demo, possibly at work, or he's on some kind of friendly user testing programme within Orange. Either way, pretty dumb to be posting pics up just for epeen points if he does work for them.
