****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

I'm gonna try and justify one of these around summer time, not sure if I'll be able to do it though because my Nexus S already zips along Gingerbread, it's hard to imagine it being any faster.

Gives me till summer to see what competition comes out I spose!

Its not all about the speed though, over the Nexus S you gain -

A much better camera, much better video recording, a much better screen and then more power on top of that. Likely better battery life too.

What do you lose? Stock Android which is nice but mainly has little to no real benefits.

I dont know if the SGS2 has NFC, but do you even use that on your Nexus S?

My upgrade date with vodafone is may 23rd (shown on online account) Think I could wangle it early?

Would love to have this phone for when I go to Rome 23rd april (if by a slim chance it is released by then)

You could possibly wangle it early, you certainly could if you pay 1 month off. Probably wont be out then though, and even if it is, stock could be a nightmare.

still not even on Orange's coming soon list, this is getting really frustrating as I'm about to order 18 phones but really want one galaxy s2 for myself in that lot. :( Our account manager knows nothing of it either in terms of firm dates, and without it being on the system i can't even put it down as a pre-order when we sign the contract.

The lack of HDMI out is putting me off it a bit - The LG Optimus 2X and Xperia Arc both have HDMI out, which is a nice feature. But with the Optimus 2X having x2 core, that would tip it for me over the Arc.

With the design of the Arc, if it had a x2 core, I would go for it right now.

Can you make it look like the Arc now? lol

I doesn't need to...;). Looks swish as is.

I am probably being too hopeful but does anyone know if mobiles.co.uk can process Vodafone 180 day early upgrades?

I had been thinking of upgrading to an Arc or Galaxy S on a £30/month contract plus £40 upfront and then I saw mobiles do the SGS2 for £9.99 on the upgrade section. I assume this is for normal end of contract upgrades.

Thanks

UPDATE: After many attempts to get hold of their sales team (thankfully they use an 01 phone number) I got the answer I expected. They can only process Vodafone upgrades in the last 70 days of the contract.

Due a new phone, was tempted by the 'three one plan' i phone 4 for £69 upfront £35p/m 24m (plus a £120 cashback offer)

This phone seems a step up in quality again and with i phone 5 updates this is going to be the phone for me. Lets just hope its released within the month as i cant wait any longer!!
