****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

So now it's between:

Samsung Galaxy S II
LG Optimus 2X
HTC Sensation

Hmm..
Just get an S2. It would be very, very difficult to be disappointed with it. The main reason I went for it over the Sensation was its internal space - so much more than the HTC option. As for LG, the usage videos never impressed. While I have a few problems with the S2's battery personally, it's apparently not widespread.

My firmwire is DD not KE7 or even KE2, I've hit system update loads of times. When would I get it (had the phoen 4 weeks now).

Additionally, stuck 16gb PNT Micro SD Class 10 in there....under Settings - Storage why isn't this included in the storage size? Thanks

DD is the original FW - very old - install Kies on your pc and it will run the update.

SD card should show up under the task manager app - then storage.

It should show up in settings - storage too

Explain? (Just to let you know I'm new to this whole era of new smartphones so no need to be so sarcastic everyone)

...Assumed you'd bothered to read the threads they would have pointed you in the right direction. I appreciate there is a lot to read through though.

Just noticed that you CAN change the default 4 icons on the phone, without installing launchers etc. I just went to the Applications screen, pressed edit (as if I was rearranging apps) and I was able to swap the 4 icons around and drag them off and drag on other applications instead.

Found it by pure luck. You can only change 3 icons actually, Phone, Contacts, Messaging, but still might be useful for people who don't have launchers etc.

For me those 3 icons seem to be sensibly placed, it would just be nice to have extra icons (I think launchers let you have 5 instead of 4), so may get launcher anyway.

Ok I give up, this things is getting traded in for an iPhone 4. There is something seriously wrong with Wifi on it (see the thread on XDA Devs) I have a new WNDR3700 Dual Band router, I don't get full strength on 5Ghz sat in the same room as the router, on 2.4Ghz the signal has lost 10 of Mbps when I'm 10 feet from the router with a plaster board wall between me and it...other than the wifi I quite like it I'm just a bit annoyed at the moment with the poor wifi performance (worse than the £99 San Francisco...)

Aye, its not brilliant but it is a nice touch as it would be daft if you couldn't change them.

...A tad dramatic.

I have crap mobile signal where I live and get GPRS at best. If I can't use wifi in my lounge from a router under 5 meters away when I can on every other device I have where does the problem lie? I've just gone and bought a new router and that has made FA difference what would you suggest?

Regarding the camera, I took a fair few photos today and there is no doubt that this is an absolutely fantastic phone for taking shots... I have never come across anything like it in a mobile device. Colour is true and detail is excellent even in bright (and today was a scorching day) sunlight.

As for the video, this is also brilliant. I took one today while at the lake where I live (27c today, yowch) and it came out top-notch... I just played it back on my Panny 50" plasma and it genuinely looked great... and I have never been able to say that about a movie shot on a mobile before... it is not easy to fill a large plasma and still retain detail, but this phone manages it. Mind-boggling.

Oh yes, and the screen at max brightness is also pretty damn readable on very sunny days in direct sunlight, as long as you shade it a little with your hand.

I heart this phone.

God knows whats wrong, but it's abnormal. It's either you've have two duff units or you've by chance picked routers that have compatibility issues. The wireless isn't as good as my laptop, but it's way more than functional.
