****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Hmm, Android OS is now using 40% too, up from 28% the other day. Wonder whats causing it.
This has been the cause of much trouble for me. Check my earlier posts in this thread. I even catalogued my usage across 2 days in an attempt to find out what was the cause - without luck. I have suspicions, but I can't recreate the problem at will. Today has been the most puzzling day of all - normal usage for 11 hours and I'm at 70% - for the last four days, that would have lead to my phone pretty much sitting at 20% or less

Odd that the carrier info is only displayed when you use the pattern unlock, I've never bothered with that so never saw it, and still won't as I don't miss it that much :p

Nope, not unless there is an app or a specific OS function that keeps the phone in a sleep state.

Phones these days run on advanced operating systems, much like Windows / OSX. Think of it this way, if you switched your PC off, it wouldn't run alarms either ;)

that's a poor excuse to be honest lol, mainly because there are some smartphones that are able to do this and there are some pc's that will switch on from a low power standby at a preset time which is set in the bios. infact my asus m4a89gtd pro usb3 does this. so no, there's no reason why a 'smartphone' couldnt have an ultra-low powerstate in which an alarm can be set. putting the phone on silent ect isnt the same thing either.

Does it really matter though? My battery drops about 5% at the most when I'm sleeping. If you put flight mode on (which is not the same as silent :p) it would probably drop about 1-3%.

Not to me, but it does to some people lol. I personally have an alarm clock for that :p

my phone was fully charged this morning and was down to 2% by lunchtime. I have no idea why but i did notice the battery monitor said my wifi was on even though i had it switched off. Also facebook apparently used 34% of my battery even though it wasnt running. 'Bit odd.

I'm currently charging it to full, then i'll reset the battery calibration and see what that does. grr

I have an update on this :)

After brimming the battery, i rooted the phone then booted in to CWM3 and deleted the battery calibration info. After a reboot i froze all the hubs (dont use them and the multiple notifications frustrated me) and unplugged the phone. Big improvement on the battery life, it lasted 18 hours in all (shot was taken when it was down to about 5%) :)

I'm happy with that, the standby usages equated to something like 1.5% per hour. So yes, if anybody is having problem then do this :) oh and i grabbed the hacked camera .apk while i was at it

when it comes up saying unplug charger, is that just to let you know or do samsung not want you to over charge (if thats possible :P )

Is anyone elses getting a bit warm? First hot day I've had with it and it felt very hot the whole time and even overheated at one point. Reckon I got a duff one?

mine gets very warm if i'm hammering the wifi while it's charging but other than that it's been ok.

Mine gets rather warm but I keep mine in my pants all day anyway and my Desire got warm too under pressure as did the HTC Magic so I didn't really think much of it :p

Thanks for those replies, think I'll wait a while before getting it replaced. Reason I was worried is that my dell streak and iphone 4 dont get that hot, but if its normal I don't mind as long as it doesnt die on me again.

How do I go about adding Album art to song already on the phone?..have a few albums but its annoying now that the album arnt isnt on the big screen.

Tried to do it via Kies but the option to ad album art is greyed out and wont let me edit!

I had problems getting album art - just wouldn't show up.

Got an app called "cover art downloader" - sorted everything within about 30 seconds. All perfect, not bad for free :)

Anyone knows if you can do following things WITHOUT rooting ?

1.) apply global EQ on all sounds played by phone (games, video & music players, flash videos etc.), preferably applying the EQ only when headphones are plugged in ?

2.) change default battery indicator to show percentage

If 1.) is not possible without rooting is it at least possible when rooted ?

I have to say I got this phone yesterday and am absolutely loving it.. nothing about it at all that I dislike. Came from a San Francisco.
