****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

I really think you should consider returning the phone for a replacement, you're having issues that are far from common and a high level of instability, assuming you're running a stock rom it's almost definitely a faulty unit...

It's starting to look that way. I've not rooted or anything but I have been using widget locker, replacement launcher and replacement message app. I've taken all taken all that off and will wait and see if it is any better. I really don't want to go through the hassle of a replacement set unless i'm sure it's the hardware!

Do a factory reset and install no replacement anything for a few days... easiest way to see if its the software or hardware.

Was impressed last night by going to the iplayer website and watching a hour long program instead of going through the iplayer app as for some reason i couldn't find it on the app. Once the video started i put the browser (boat browser) into full screen mode then pressed full screen on the player and it worked perfectly :)

Anyone else have issues with inexplicable data usage?

I have syncing off, but background data is on. So whatever is downloading is not due to syncing (or at least it shouldn't be). Does anyone know of a way to tell which app or program is accessing the net? I have things like AP Mobile turned off. It also seems to be data SENT. Very puzzling. I keep meaning to wipe my phone and I might do it tonight and keep new apps to a minimum.

Currently with T-Mobile using an HTC HD2 and by contract finishes this week. Think i'm going to upgrade to the SGS2 but just wondering what's the phone like on T-Mobile firmware wise, is it full of bloat or are ppl finding it ok?

Sorry if been posted, did have a quick search but supposed to be working and had to be quick :p

I see, sorry. HIDSWVER shows "I9100XWKE7/I9100XEUKD1/I9100XXKE4/I9100XWKE7" and prod code is "GT-I9100LKAVOD"

What I dont get, is I flashed using the XEU KE7 firmware, so shouldnt the VOD bit have gone? I assume the above means I have a mismatch? I did follow the guide on XDA... Its all worked... Just knowone said what to do in future :D
The product code doesn't change when you override and flash generic firmware. So yeah a mismatch, just means using Odin or spoofing your productcode to trigger Kies.

Seen this app mentioned on avforums Traffic Counter Extended for someone who is having similar issue as you. he went through 80 MB in one day.

So in future if Im using Odin, would I have to do the root part every time as per the XDA guide or is that just to unbrand it, and future updates can just be step 1 of the guide?

All my nokias Ive ever flashed have had their updates with no probs direct through Nokia Software Updater.. I assume they had mismatches too but they just worked :D

Still.... Its only day 2 of Android world and im loving it so cant complain............. much :D

Nope hardly any bloatware from T-Mobile nowadays - just a boot splash at startup and a few apps.

Orange are the bloatware Kings.

Cool :D Looks like i've found my new phone then, time to see what sort of deal i can sort out now.

Me too, it's buttery smooth and loads pages very fast.

I am in 2 minds over weather to use Opera or Dolphin. I love dolphin but I also love the dark theme on here but can't figure out how to get it on the dolphin. It looks great the dark theme on Opera.

EDIT: Also would like to know if I follow the guide by Chainfire about using CF-Root v3.6 will this work as i am already rooted but I don't have CWM3 as I used the old way of rooting?

Thanks for putting my mind at rest regarding firmware/root questions DIABLO and fornowagain! I have now successfully upgraded to KE7! I've not yet rooted but I have nearly plucked up enough courage!

I now have a couple more things I am unsure of if anyone can help?

**Edit*** Ignore this question, i've just noticed its been discussed while I was typing this!! **Edit**
1) When I plug my phone in to Kies, it now doesn't display the firmware details. fornowagain you mentioned there would be a mismatch in the product code and firmware, so I am assuming this is the reason why. Is there anyway to match these up (change the T-Mobile product code)?

2) Where do I check the firmware counter?

I will also be asking this question in the Accessories thread, but does anyone know if the S2 will fit into the official car holder with the official case fitted to the phone?

Cheers,

Mark

I'm looking to get this phone on tmobile, do they still upgrade all Android phones to 3gb of data allowance?

I was looking around the tmobile site and it says you can browse and email as much as you want but there's a 500mb limit on uploading/downloading videos or files....How does this affect the 3gb upgrade?

I thought they had taken the 3gb allowance away from new/upgrading contracts and replaced it with the 500mb limit.

I knew about the limit to 500mb for new contracts. Question though- is this standard, regardless of bolt ons, or is it a free bolt on pre-applied, or is it an enforced bolt on? Reason I ask is that some online deals mention you get data and the data bolt on is in the line rental: if you change the bolt on do you lose the data? My current (old) TMobile contract has a 3Gb limit plus I can change my bolt on one a month to whatever: currently free land line calls.
