****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Im O2 Gold tier and apparently I will be able to go straight to this if I so please :D
So renew my 24 monther @ £35/month for 1000 mins / unlimited texts and unlimited data (old contract pre cap!)
Currently got a Nexus S I brought offline so not sure if its worth waiting?!

Any idea's on release date and price this will be on Three? I want unlimited data, so seems like The One Plan is the only option.

another question. how do people think this will last in terms of power etc compared to the hero lasted? i got stuck with far too long contract on my hero and wanted a new phone long ago. i wonder now that android is settled and the phones are getting so powerful will i really need a short contract this time or could a 2 year one last me like it did before when i had the n95?

The Hero was underpowered even when it was released... this is at the top of the tree.

Mostly depends where Andriod is in 2 yrs. Will your hardware be able to run it. But the 8MP camera and expandable storage should mean you'll be able to do most things phones in 2 yrs will be doing.

Windows Mobile devices were always underpowered. When the hardware finally caught up MS released the locked down Windows Phone :(

Indeed. The Hero was a poor phone on the whole that did an 'average' job at most things, after 3 weeks with it, I hated it and got an N900 to tide me by until the Desire came out.

The Desire came out not long after and absolutely blew it out of the water on all fronts.

Remember this phone should have better power consumption.

GS2 - I'm may be the only one to care but I really like how the screen is proper black when off...gives the front a pure black and sleek look.

Mine has almost exactly the same look as the picture posted above of the SGS2...

It's NEVER going to look pure black when screen off anyway, it's reflecting light through 2 glass panels for starters and then the surface so it's never going to look as black as the border which is just a black trim behind the glass front at a raised height inside anyway.

I see what your saying Khaaan but the pic of the SGS2 looks like it was taken under a bright light...yours doesn't. However I have yet to see one for real so I will reserve opinion till then :)

EDIT: It was the way the pic was taken that made the sgs2 look all black...the one below confirms the screen doesn't blend in fully when off:

The Desire always had a problem with reflections in direct light, the integrated digitizer + minimal screen depth is a huge advantage of sAMOLED (plus any anti glare coating on the glass?)

Does anyone else think that there is too much blank space at the bottom of the Optimus 2X? Looks a bit dodgy to me.

Oh yeah... the SGS 2 has too much space on the top if you think about it... and the Atrix need a bigger bottom bezel too, HTC wins that round! :D
