****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Mobiles.co.uk are superb in my experience, I've had a lot of dealings with them and I've not had a problem yet.

I just hope they'll get stock sooner rather than later.

I'm looking at going with the same deal - are you going via mobiles.co.uk for that? Any experience with them? Are they okay?

Also, does anyone have any experience of getting a PAC code from T-Mobile?

Yes i am going with mobiles.co.uk, specifically this contract:

£29.99 for the handset, £30/month for 300 mins, 'unlimited' texts (fair use policy of 3000/month) and 500mb internet.

Make sure you use quidco to get £50 cashback, thus more than wiping out the initial down payment

Other than a phonecall with them today, i have had no experience, however they picked up near instantly and were polite and helpful. My sister has bought from them and did mention she thought it was a good company. Many people on this forum also vouch for them.

Cool, thanks for the advice guys. Streeteh, I assume you're in a similar position to myself with T-Mobile (don't want to take their deal and have to change numbers), which is why you can't get the better deal through buymobilephones.co.uk. Have you spoken to retentions, and how were they?

Will definitely be getting the cashback by the way, but thanks for the reminder :)

I'm not in that situation, i'm currently with Three so can't give you any advice on that sadly.

While it may seem like madness to ignore the t-mobile offering, it is necessary for me to go with Vodafone. Their coverage is better than most in more rural areas and my parents home (where i often stay) only gets reception if you're on the vodafone network and their 'Sure Signal' box further adds to the appeal of going with that network when i'm likely to be in low signal areas often.

[EDIT] For my uses the T-Mobile contract isn't really that much better anyway. Their 'unlimited' internet has a fair usage policy of 500mb, making it exactly the same as Voda, it offers far less texts (which i use often) and more mins (which i use less). The 24 month contract is a downer though i'll be honest.

Buymobilephones are decent too (for the record), but they are keeping fairly quiet over delivery estimates which would imply they don't have much stock secured.

Does anyone know any more about when they are expecting deliveries? I'll get it from there if I dont have to wait and its unlocked :p

Buymobiles, no.

I did however ring Mobiles.co.uk today and they informed me they will be getting their stock on the 3rd. The guy on the phone said he 'would be shocked' if i didn't have my phone by the 10th and i only preordered on Friday so i'd say that's a pretty good outlook.

Here's hoping.

That means we're looking at delivery next Wednesday then, I suppose that is ok. I hate waiting but its fun at the same time :p

We'll know a lot more tomorrow when all this Easter rubbish is out of the way!!

Are you getting one now simulatorman? :D

Don't forget though that T-Mobile users can use the Orange network (and vice versa) when there's no signal, not sure if that helps you out though in rural areas.

'fraid not. Voda is literally the only network that gets signal at their home, it's also terrible signal, which is where Sure Signal comes in.

The local residents (Gower) widely regard Voda as the only network to go with around there, there's just too many dead spots on other networks.

I'm actually in that position, but I'll be doing what someone suggested earlier: Transfer my number from my current contract, to a PAYG SIM on another network, and then back to the new T-Mobile contract.

Genius!!! Think I'll be doing that, I've got a PAYG SIM from Orange hanging around somewhere.

What's the process for that? I assume that I'll need to get my PAC from T-Mobile, then speak to Orange to transfer the number to that SIM, then get my PAC from Orange and pass it back to T-Mob?

More broadly, what happens when your contract with T-Mobile ends? Mine finishes on the last day of this month. WIll it keep rolling on a monthly basis unless I tell them otherwise?

afaik it'll renew so you'll have another month with them if you don't cancel before the end of the month.

i don't understand how porting numbers works though from what i remember doing. what i thought i did last time was when i had my o2 number at the end of the contract i rang up and asked for the PAC which they gave which lasted something like 30 days. i then rang orange and got it put across onto my almost new contract with them. is this not how it works?

This MHL stuff sounds very impressive, however the fact that your TV needs to support charging is a downer. As a result the phone will have to playback 1080p media on my TV and the charging socket will be taken up for the MHL cable so i can't plug in a separate charger.

Is there any news of a means to connect the phone to a non MHL TV and still be able to charge?
