****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Yes i am going with mobiles.co.uk

Make sure you use quidco to get £50 cashback, thus more than wiping out the initial down payment

Has your Quidco cashback been tracked for this yet? I've just raised an an upgrade order but noticed that mobiles.co.uk don't pay out on pre-orders (on the quidco/mobiles.co.uk t's and c's)

It's certainly tracked yes, i didn't realize they don't give cashback for preorders, hopefully it's fallen under the radar?

Hmm, that handset might be okay as they had run a previous promo just for that phone...

"Cashback is not paid on Pre-Orders unless otherwise stated" - maybe this phone is an exception, fingers crossed, I'll be checking my tracking summary every 10 minutes! It should be tracked within 3 hours so I'll know soon enough :)

Bam! And it's in - 50 quid cashback being tracked :D

Could still be rejected though :(

Another interesting tidbit for me - just discovered this phone supports high preset MKVs (basically near bluray quality) and FLAC out of the box. This truly is a media lovers' phone. Can't wait to just be able to chuck a couple of MKVs onto it, grab my MHL adapter and trek over to a mates house for a movie night in.

indeed, no more converting with handbrake on my 3 year old dual core at realtime speed. I can just chuck something on my phone before leaving the house in the morning.

And now I think about it, an MHL adapter might be a good investment, I can plug it into the TV in the bedroom and watch something easily without having to set up the laptop, and at better quality. Fantastic.

Great little vid here explaining MHL

What really? LOL sim free or contract?and where from :)

zia

I ordered it from Phones4U on contract who were giving delivery on 27th when I ordered it as they have exclusivity to release it early, they told me on the phone its in stock at the warehouse and ready to go out on the 26th for delivery on 27th but I will believe it when its in my hand.

Wikipedia and various other quotes indicate it:

Have mine preodered but hoping they get it out before 7th of may

Ahh so the adapter in that video has an input to plug your charger into, is that definately the same one on the Clove site, if so I might have to get one myself.

I know that MHL TVs aren't out yet and they will be the only ones that will charge your phone automatically so it's good they give you a hybrid option until MHL TVs are mainstream.

Read my post, i can't go with Tmobile.

300 mins is plenty for me.

£50 quidco cashback from mobiles.co.uk more than cancels out the difference in phone cost as you can only get £30 from buymobilephones.

Also, it's not as if i'm paying £190 for 'nothing'. I'll be getting 6 months worth of mobile phone contract. Yes it's slightly more expensive as i could 'downgrade' to a cheaper contract in those six months, but it certainly won't work out as completely free as you are wording it as. Assuming i went with the cheapest vodaphone contract i could it would be roughly £15/month, so it would work out as £90 saved, but i can't get a £30/month 18 month vodafone contract so it's a moot point.

[EDIT] Oh and, the tmobile contract is limited to 500 texts. I need texts more than i need mins and the vodafone contract has unlimited (ok, fair use of 3000)
I sometimes have similar issues which is why I went with talkmobile
Which is Vodafone backed network

I ordered mine through Phones4U on Saturday and was told it would be sent on the 27th and I'll receive it 3-5 days after that. I'm hoping your rep was more knowledgable though....

Seems that the Phones4u order page isn't working when you click on confirm after putting all the details in (just get a transparent black screen), I'll order it in the morning then  :(

I placed my order on the 18th it even said on the webpage delivery on 27th, thought I would phone up and check 3-4 days ago and she confirmed my phone was in stock from the first stock they had and would be dispatched on Tuesday for delivery on Wednesday, but as I say when i get a knock at the door and its in my hand I will then believe it.
