****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Please take it elsewhere chaps, I keep coming back to this thread in the hope that there's more news or info about the phone, but I'm going to stop bothering soon if this is the direction it's going in.

You might also want to look up how the Competition Commision works too, I think you find from their point of view CPW and mobiles.co.uk are the same company.

They are in competition with each other as much as my left and right hands are in competition with each other.

Another own goal, if they are easy to unlock why should I be worried about getting a locked unit?

What exactly do you think the Competition Commission is for? Regulating shops or something? I am mightily confused why someone who looks into the running of public services and regulated industries would look into a retailer. Mobile.co.uk do not sell services, they sell contracts on behalf of the networks.

Oh and each company has it's own internal structure and targets to meet, so yes they are in competition with each other, whether you like it or not just because some companies chose to share the parent name does not meant they are not competitive against each other, next you'll tell me that Dixon's Group stores don't compete with each other.

Yeah because something is easy to unlock does not mean having it come unlocked is a negative, for one some networks will not provide warranty on unlocked handsets, or they'll get very argumentative about it.

I'll let you carry on in your own little world, where ever that is, if you don't want to read and take advice from a forum full of well informed and helpful people, then more fool you. ;)

Enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend. :)

I can guage a tone of voice, can't gauge a tone of post though, well not unless someone uses all caps or over uses the exclamation mark.

Anyway let's just put it down to a set of unfornuate mis-understandings and move on.

But tell me, why do Orange insist everyone else locks their phone to their network but allow Mobiles.co.uk to get away with selling unlocked units? I'm genuinely interested.

I'll give you some 'insider information'.

CPW and it's subsidiaries just sell contracts. Networks pay various amounts for the contracts sold.

CPW and it's subsidiaries purchase grey box (unlocked and unbranded) stock in large volumes at reduced prices.

The amount of money earned from a sold contract is then used to subsidise the cost of the handset to the customer.

T-Mobile contract makes CPW £300? That means they can throw in a £150 phone (cost to them) in for free and still make £150.

They sell sim-only contracts and use the money to pay for the phones they purchase themselves and include in the deal.

This is why, Apple products withstanding, all their phones are unlocked.

You do realise you are over paying right? Buymobilephones has £30p/m for 18 months on T-mobile, with more mins (600 minutes), and slightly less upfront (£20)....you're going to end up paying £190 over odds for a lot less minutes

glad i came in here, cheers, just ordered that deal, unlimited data too, nearly got it on voda 300 mins also, and only 18 months, cool

What do people reckon the odds of me getting mine before the 10th of May are seeing as i preordered earlier this weekend from mobiles.co.uk? The website says stock expected by the 28th but doesn't mention whether it will be able to fulfil preorders.

Fairly poor i assume?

Or is stock just a massive mystery atm?

I'm just hoping Buymobilephones.net isn't one of those places that takes a million orders but doesn't actually have enough presence in the market to get enough stock to fulfil them. I'll be quite unimpressed if that ends up being the case!

This is also my concern with mobiles.co.uk. I'm fed up with my current provider and phone so staying with them for longer is really not ideal. I have until the 10th to get my PAC code sent out to a new provider so fingers crossed!

Just rang them and i have to say i'm impressed; they're actually manning phones on a bankholiday monday!

Bad news is that their stock arrival has been pushed back to the first week of May, he reckoned they would start processing on the 3rd. Hopefully though that means my deadline of getting it of the 10th will still be possible.

Expansys are showing:
£519.99
Free Shipping
If ordered by 6pm today, expect free delivery in 10-11 days or 8 days with express delivery (£6.90)
* Stock Expected In 7 Days

What's this express delivery crap?

Thanks, so what do Phones4U do then and why don't they just copy the CPW model?

Funny. What I mean is they were advertising at £499.99 plus free shipping, which then changed to £519.99, oh and if you want it as soon as possible they want another £7 out of you. Debating whether to cancel and save myself £30 quid from the Jersey site.

To be honest i wrote it off completely as i assumed that contracts would be insanely expensive, especially on vodafone (i'm pretty much limited to them due to signal issues with every other carrier around where my parents live).

I then decided to have a glance for funs sake, found that for £30 for the phone you could get a £30/month vodafone contract. After deducting the cost of the new phone that works out at around £10/month for the contract. Pretty reasonable tbh.

I'm looking at going with the same deal - are you going via mobiles.co.uk for that? Any experience with them? Are they okay?

Also, does anyone have any experience of getting a PAC code from T-Mobile?

EDIT: Before anyone starts, I'm currently with T-Mobile, so can't get the slightly better deal without changing my number, which I don't want to do. Boo :(
