****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

The only thing I don't like about the SGS 1 and 2 is how they just copy the iPhone in design!

A bit more originality would be nice

£500 notes would be a nice price, should be able to recoup around £200 for my desire, im sure with the desire z, hd and now s it will help me sell to some gumbo who sees the latest htc advert

The only problem now is that is samsung who don't care about their customers and leave you with out dated software. I might wait for something HTC flavoured.

well HTC have failed to deliver. S2 it is.

Now, when is it going to be released?!

I bought into the hype of the Galaxy S but sold it a couple of months after buying it and can't really see the point in this new version?

Everyone at the time was going on about how the Galaxy S was faster and had a GPU for gaming built into it. I bought one then realised that yes I had a phone with a faster benchmark score than others and a GPU but there's simply no need for that much power on Android as there isn't a large selection of apps or games in the app store that need it!

The second major factor is just how poor Samsungs support for firmware upgrades is - Kies - shudder. It takes months for updates to roll through and with new versions of Android surely on the horizon it's best to wait or go HTC as they seem to update their phones a lot faster? Had GPS issues with the Galaxy S from day one and Samsung kept rumours going for ages that they would fix it in a patch but by the time I came to sell it they hadn't. I felt very let down by how Samsung updated their flagship model and it has put me off the brand completely.

I preferred the build quality, stability and support of the HTC Desire in the end. Yes the Samsung was more powerful and scored better in benchmarks, but I still fail to see the point in such as powerful phone if no software requires it? Surely Android needs more apps and proper games other than angry birds to ultimately justify the power? The SAMOLED screens are great, but apart from that I don't get it.

1080p 30 fps recording = win.

Also, if the S2 has a big uptake it will be rooted within a few months.

It's basically allowing custom firmware to be flashed, so you can essentially get new versions of android, with none of the samsung "bloatware" very shortly after the release of the operating system itself, not having to wait for Samsung to create it

The GPS is fixed by rooting it and putting another firmware on IIRC? Not exactly a huge problem given how easy that is. I also have a desire, but my gf has the galaxy S. Other than build quality, there is no reason to switch? Strange concept that you swapped because it was too powerful, bit like switching 3ghz c2d based PC with a decent graphics card to one with onboard, just because you don't use the graphics card very often.....except you'd be no better off financially from this move as desires and galaxys are pretty much the same ££

I wonder if HTC just wanted to see what the compertition was about before finaly tweaking their beast of a phone Just a thought really.

They may be holding back to steal the limelight and if they are I would have thought that they'll have to announce soon as they don’t want to go to market after all the other phones are already there.

makes no sense to do that.... as they were last up out of the big guys and everyone was waiting for them........ they had the spotlight!

for them to add one now would be a marketing pr blunder!

Samsung Galaxy S2 vs LG Optimus 3D Read the review here >>>> Click here

According to that review they both have HDMI out

3D photos and video sound cool on the LG but tbh I see it as something that I personally wouldnt use a lot. I'd also like to see what LG have done to the OS in the flesh with the whole 3d nonsense

Wonder if TMob will be carrying the SGS2

So just for arguments sake. Say the Galaxy S2 ships with Android 2.3 with Touchwiz.
Does this mean you could basically just install the stock version of Android 2.3 on the GS2? So It would essentially look like a Nexus-S?
But wont this remove certain features like HD video recording?

It is down to the "community" (xda-developers essentially) releasing a custom firmware without it whilst retaining the video recording, which in all likelyhood would happen. For the HTC Desire there are many many different ROMs, many of which don't have HTC sense, some that keep it but remove certain parts etc....
