****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Khaaan! - Will you be getting this phone to replace your Desire? My contact ends in May but I can upgrade anytime after March 2nd. :)

I think he said he most probably is a few pages back.

Considering its rumoured to be March 4th, your contract couldn't end at a better time! :p

I thought he had but I wasn't sure if he was just hanging around this thread for no reason. ;)

Yeah, not bad eh! :D You might know that I was umming and aahing over the Desire v Desire HD question. The original Samsung Galaxy S was out of the equation because it looked too much like an iPhone copy in terms of the case design.

If dual core mobiles indeed use less power then it makes sense to upgrade to a dual core mobile. Neither the Desire nor Desire HD have a dual core so that counts them out. The Desire would be ancient by the time a new two year contract ended if I got that in March. The new HTC phones look OK but a lack of dual core means the Galaxy S 2 is the new leader. :) Just need Vodafone to give us some dates. Anytime from March 2nd onwards is just superb timing for me.

Sweet Voda has it listed now. Click here
Sweet! I've registered but I'll be checking the Vodafone site quite often now. :D I wonder if a third party seller will have a better deal on the Galaxy S2 on Vodafone. Would probably mean changing my number but if I can get a better deal that way rather than through Vodafone direct I'll do that. :)

I personally feel the Desire HD is a very nice phone, but in many respects its very 'meh'.

It doesn't do anything really new, its just a final push of the older technology from HTC, dual core and SAMOLED+ with face recognition is the undoubted way forward! :D

It is down to the "community" (xda-developers essentially) releasing a custom firmware without it whilst retaining the video recording, which in all likelyhood would happen. For the HTC Desire there are many many different ROMs, many of which don't have HTC sense, some that keep it but remove certain parts etc....

Where would you go about finding these ROMs?

I knew it would be good ever since I checked out my cousin's SGS camcorder ages ago :p

That 1080p is better than most high street 1080p HD camcorders as well.
