you know what, i havent even looked into the competition you know, i like the galaxy and i like this even more, still no excuse for not checking out the competition...dont know whether i should now just to avoid dissapointment
 
just cancelled my o2 PAYG order and gone for it on pay monthly because they said they had stock for contract deals and it works out cheaper than PAYG with quidco. Third time ive put an order in for this phone now lets hope no other offer comes up!

'We have stock for contracts'? What a load of *****. So is it a different phone for payg?

What did they lock you in at? A 24 months for losers contract?

Just to give my thoughts on this device after having it for just over a day now...

The screen and the speed of the phone is just BEASTLY. I haven't had anything hang or stutter on me yet, even with a live wallpaper running in the background. The camera and video recording totally destroy what my old desire was capable of.

There are though, a few things that I miss a lot from my desire, and most of them are linked to sense...

dialer
internet browser
social networking/phone book integration
calendar
notification light

I'm sure most of these things can be fixed through apps, but not had the time to look into that yet.

Considering what Ive read about it being too light, I actually wasn't too bothered by it. The size is not an issue for me either which was another concern, but my hands are a bit bear like = )

I'm not so sure about that. It's well known the contract O2 phones are unlocked, where as the PAYG are supposedly locked (although I've had one that wasn't). It's a sprat to catch a mackerel, they can't make anything like as much money on PAYG vs contract. I don't find it hard to believe they have more than one SKU of the same model.
 
Looks like a good phone but what's with the iphone style menu system, I hate that menu system. Also my wife recently got a samsung galaxy portal on contract but my old htc hero felt smoother which it shouldnt have really. So im in two minds about this.

The Galaxy Portal is rubbish, the Hero was and is a far better phone, so don't hold that against Samsung.

As for the menu system, install Launcher Pro, ADW Launcher, Go Launcher EX, etc, and set it up however you like. ;)
 
Well I went and ordered it with the quidco deal, 18 month contract / 21.50 pm.

Quidco hasn't tracked it yet but apparently can take up to 3 days so heres hoping.

Looking forward to my new toy!
