I contacted Samsung about the ICS problems I have on SII. They replied advising to do a factory reset. I then asked if ICS has been released onto SII prior to it being fully compatible. Received a reply saying they are looking into it. Will post again when they reply.
No ROMs here, just root. I actually find nothing wrong with the stock S3 ROM. I've frozen many Samsung apps though using Titanium.
The only things missing are a blue battery icon and slide notification bar to adjust brightness but those are slightly minor compared to the existing bugs of current custom ROMs.
Dunno what compatibility problems you are having but it is just fine for me. Early releases such as LPQ were too early & three jumped the gun releasing it too early, But LP7 onwards has been perfectly fine.
Phone hangs, slow operation, dire battery life, all since ICS
Mattey1 - I'm running LP7 - What do the later builds improve on? Anything Noticeable?
Say I did flash the latest build - Will it wipe my phone and/or wipe my ICS Theme and mods?
Hey all long time no post, just thought I'd give a little update. Updated to the latest Hyrda yesterday and it's like my phones got a new lease of life, so quick and responsive.
Hi All, did a wipe and reset from XXKI3 to ICS 4.0.3 XWLPF
as per XDA
XWLPF
Android 4.0.3
This package has: PDA: XWLPF| Modem/phone: XXLPX| CSC: XEULP5
Download: Download
XWLPF Stock Kernel: Download
Password: intratech@XDA

Did a reset and wipe again after the XWLPF was applied via odin now i cannot get any GPS on maps or weather ?
i get the following message "current location is temporarily unavailable"
I have 3G signal and wifi, I don't understand, Any ideas please
Thank you..
I updated to ICS when it was released for the unbranded phones but since then I've needed to do a battery pull most days and upto 3/4 times some days as the phone freezes on a black screen.
Will a factory reset solve this? Yes most likely
Will I have to re-install stock ICS after this? No ICS will remain - it will be like a new phone again - all apps, contacts, messages deleted etc. Data on the SD card will remain untouched like pictures etc
Ill be backing up via kies, so would I go - Backup - wipe - update ICS - restore backup?
Backup via kies is hit and miss - try and use a program like 'my back up pro' to save apps, messages etc. If you root then you cave same all app data too like game saves and app settings.
I'm happy with the stock ICS would the phone benefit from being rooted? what would I gain?
rooting allows you to do things like block ads, to a full image backup of your phone (nandroid), put an OS wide theme on, backup all your app data, install custom roms etc - it's easy and you should do it.
Cheers
