****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

What kernel is it?

I had some serious drains with Siyah 3.3.1. Mainly when the WiFi was on but in general it wasn't that great I know the kernel doesn't apply to WiFi though.

Now using DarkKnight 1.4 kernel & it is miles better so far.

Kinda looks ok to me - but can't be certain.

I'd say refresh cpu spy and keep an eye on it.

Can you post shots up of batterbatterystats - kernel and partial wakelocks.

nothing out of ordinary in BBS :/

Pretty sure that's the Wi-Fi bug, do you have Wi-Fi on a lot of the time?

i dont actually :o its the stock samsung ROM LPF if im not mistaken :)

Urgh. I can enable silent mode, and disable it... and now ICS adds a warning when I'm doing it... but as soon as I touch one of the volume buttons silent mode is disabled.

Is there any way to keep silent mode on until I turn it off?

Carphone Warehouse are offering between £150 - £200 for an S2 at the moment. Im fairly certain I will sell it to them as I have an S3 now but how do I format the phone so every bit of detail I had is gone??? Is it just the usual Wipe data / factory reset, Wipe cache, Wipe dalvik cache. Then odin - basic kernal/firmware???

*edit* just seen the 'restore' setting. Doing this now. Would that be enough with the above as well?

Thanks.

Impressed with my battery life the past 35 hrs:

All web browsing done on HSPA 4hrs+, Bluetooth on most of the time, 35% brightness most of the time - 5% on white web pages.

Sorry for what is probably a stupid question but is there any way to improve signal quality on my S2 (ICS plus syrah kernel)? On vodafone and nearly everywhere I go around town I have like 1 or no signal bars (-111dbm right now on about phone/signal). Surely it should be better than this indoors in central London?

Get dropped calls quite a lot unsurprisingly. Could I have a dodgy phone or is vodafone just **** in central London?

4th post onwards for our model.

Very nice usage there kona :)

How do you find out the % of whites that there was for web browsing?

Cheers. Sorry I meant when browsing white web pages I turned the brightness down to 5% as I was in a darkish room and hate having my retina's burnt out. I was reading up on Googles I/O. :)

Cool I've give that a go thanks. Have to admit I didn't really know what different modems did so had left well enough alone, but at the moment phone is so bad it's almost unusable as a phone which is kinda the point of having it....

Completely stock LP7 - Just rooted, themed and a dozen apps disabled.

I have nothing syncing though.

Sleepy-head :p

Ah ok thank you :)

To the bold: CHEATER!!!!! :p

Yeah I've had problems with certain modems in the past, I can't really recommend one though as it could be different for different networks. I personally use NELP3 modem though because it is a Three modem :)

There's still the massive Modem debate for us in the UK.

O2 Network, what do people suggest. I've been told

LPX
NELP3
NELP2
KH3
KI4

I remember that KH3/KI4 Were the 'beasts' back in the GB days.

What's the best way to go from the stock Samsung ICS to a custom ROM? Never tried anything on my S2!

Adding more info:

Using an Galaxy S2 from Orange which means it is an i9100P. Can the normal rooting and ROMs be used? Not fussed about using NFC!
