Has someone got a link to download parandroid? I keep trying via the XDA thread but the link returns a bad gateway and the mirror does not work.

EDIT: Sorted now, found a mirror.

Buuut they mailed me with some Credit card address anomaly halting the deal so we could change, I still prefer the SGS2 for £22 but will look at your links and study data use, see whether 750mb/1.5gb might do.

The main trouble is a two year contract is a long time with an already old or overtaken phone, coupled with the fact that he just lost a phone after using it for 1 year. Hmmm.

You've set the ball rolling, I've got him researching data use and future proofness of various models, the SGS3 and (with a nod to Nexus 18) the HTC One S are current front runners, I never felt comfortable with the Sony Xperia S option, thank God for the credit card fubar.

its not a bad phone by any means but for 25P/M no way would i take it :/ i was thinking "Hey i would need at least 1gb-2gb of data" but in reality i only use 300-400mb out of my 500mb allowance :o the rest(around 10gb/pm) is used on wifi when i have access to it

i would go for one s/x or galaxys3 - top end phones at the moment as you know.

i took my galaxy s2 for 20.50pm 7 months ago

with 100mins(dont call much) unlimited texts and 500mb data :)

only once did i go over the data limit by forgetting to turn it off after flashing the phone and google play store downloaded 300mb of apps :o

In the end we got him the s3 on one plan with £88 cb, he's buying a one off insurance plan recommended by Moneysavingexpert and giving £20 towards the phone and i get £12 worth of washing up done every month, I already pay to get it done anyway so I'm not losing out on the deal, win win :D
 
I flashed ParanoidAndroid last night and all was fine. I have just realised that the phone.apk does not work. Whenever I go to use the phone I get 'Phone.apk process has stopped' message.

Anyone know of a fix?

Paranoid settings > list all > all > phone > change to Phone UI & Phone DPI/240

Remember, S3 connects at double the wifi speed of the S2.

Woop - Got this router for pennies - does the job nicely! 3-4MB/s over FTP now on the S2. Happy days mrk! SammyFTW.

Yeah I have Ivona Amy and the ozzy bird too. Just doesn't cut through with the same volume when in the car as the default female voice that I used to have with gingerbread. I went into the service menu, clicked on 5 audio, and it seems to be locked. It wasn't locked in gingerbread though.
 
I'm trying to upgrade my S2 to 4.0. Current version:

I unlocked it when it was new. I'm on Vodafone and getting the "can't be upgraded" message on Kies.

I know I need to use Odin to flash to an upgradable version, but unsure which release I need.

Any help much appreciated.
 
Quick question. I used 141 today as a prefix to a phone number I rang. Is this the right number to make my mobile number invisible/private? I've no idea if the person at the other end could see my number or not.
