****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Google now is pretty amazing, after a few days it has picked up on were I live, were I work and so on. It gives me the best routes for driving and gives me traffic updates aswell. I have changed it to public transport today so I will see how well it does with that but seems very good tool to use.

I'd say it is pretty damn stable now.

Still hwcomposer doesn't work properly so still some lags every now & again but on the whole it is pretty smooth.

TVout doesn't work like usual same with FM radio but you can use an app for that.

Apart from that it should be fully functional.

cheers Mattey1 - when I get round to doing you'll be the first to know as I'll need some questions answered before hand :D.

I'm pretty happy with stock LP7 with 4.3 domination for now - though the wifi freezing when you turn it on sometimes really is a pita.

do you have to enter your work and home addresses in to your contacts for this to work?

No, after 3-4 days It just knew. As soon as I leave home now it will pop up, tell me how the trains are and how long it should take me to get into work. Visa versa on the way home.

I can see great things happening with Google now, I also love the speed it picks up your words and how it takes out a lot of steps compared to Siri, e.g. Siri would ask you if you want to search the net for things while google plus does it right away and so on.

Both platforms I believe are a very big step to a natural UI in the future but google now is clearly aimed to be more helpful/aid you while siri is more of a party trick.

Do you have location services enabled in your settings (under locations), if you dont have that on then google isnt allowed to "track" you to find these details out. Also think this would be great for anyone outside of london as it is very good with traffic and its hell to drive to work in london xD. But I could really see it coming in handy if you did drive around as it tells you which route is best and so on.

Hi guys, just a quick one, ive given my S2 to my uncle, so ive brought it back to stock everything, but hes complaining about reception issues and calls cutting out. This never happened when i was using it on o2 with revolt rom, but its happening now with the stock rom on tmobile.

So can someone double check which stock rom/kernal mix is the best for tmobile/orange?

Ive got the S2 here now, and its running:

4.0.3
I9100XXLPX

3.0.15-I9100XWLPG-CL619441
dpi@DELL150 #3

Thankyou in advance.

I do however i moved from paranoid 1.9.2 to 1.9.5 this morning and i couldnt tell you if it was switched on in 1.9.2....it probably wasnt. I'll see what happens over the next few days lol

Finally got my S2 back from having a new screen fitted. If anyone needs this doing, Carphone Warehouse will do it or £79.99, which is nice - far cheaper than getting a fake screen of o ebay and the hassle of fitting it yourself.

Now I'm trying to decide what rom to use. rom reading around it seems to be between Paranoid Android, and Resurrection Remix.

How stable is the latest Paranoid Android, and how does the battery fare with real usage. I'm assuming I should use dark knight kernel i going with Paranoid Android as that gets mentioned a fair bit.

I've found the latest Paranoid build to be really stable, havn't come across any issues. Combined with Darkknight Kernel the battery life is pretty good, Ive been using my phone constant since 8am this morning (internet, road navigation, whatsapp etc) and I'm on 60%. Give it a go :)

Format/repartition/wipe/clear cache type stuff is where I'd go Smoove - however I'm sadly not anything like an expert there at all... be careful not to brick it!

Wifi wasn't working at all for me on Paranoid 1.95. It saw the SSID and then went on a connection loop, without ever connecting. As a result, I'd downloaded hundreds of MBs of data without having wifi turned on. Ouch.

That and the lack of mass storage meant it had to go. Wifi is back working fine on my old Wanamlite build, so I'll stick with that for a while longer.
