****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Following on from my previous post, If I flash the UK ROM on this page: http://devsrom4android.blogspot.co.uk/2011/10/t-mobile-samsung-galaxy-s2-stock-roms.html back onto my T-Mobile S2, will that cover me?

Do i also need to reset the counter somehow? (i think it's at something silly like 40 atm)

Grab checkfus from here http://fus.nanzen.se/

Then select Android in the drop down under "choose firmware" then GT-I9100 & finally UK - Tmobile in the 3rd box.

Once selected "check firmware" to the left & then an option to download it should come up.

If you are running a ICS ROM you can download triangle away to reset the counter to 0.

Hmm one issue there - touchscreen isn't working! Does Triangle away run as an app, or is there some kinda flashable "patch" ? (thanks for the DL link)

Well screw it then. Hopefully they won't be anal and refuse to fix a screen, when it's had non-official ROMs installed previously!

Has anyone got a working version of TV Catchup??

I was running the beta that I found somewhere but it now tells me it's out of date and I can't find it again??

If your screen is broke, try using Android Screencast. I think it will only work if your phone is rooted, but will display your phone screen on your computer, and let you control it from your computer with the mouse/keyboard.

You will probably also need to install the android sdk stuff so you can use abd.

Was a life saver when I broke my screen. I managed to use it to get a full backup of everything with titanuim backup.

my bat just went poof on every ROM i try.. hardly if ever i get 3hrs screen on time.. :O should i upgrade to extended? i mean i've had my phone for 9 or so months now.. so maybe the battery is giving up?

I'm having a weird problem with my GSII. What happens is that the brightness seems to have a mind of its own. I have not selected auto-brightness or auto screen adjust but every day the screen will go from about 1/3 brightness to full without me doing a thing. I've googled this and it is a common issue but can't find a solution.

I could contact O2 and ask for a replacement under my business contract which is where this one came from. They told me it was reconditioned and it is in mint condition ( I sent mine back after scraping the glass) but I'm convinced they sent me a dud. It came with ICS installed and battery life is very good but the brightness problem is a pain. Any thoughts?

I've been keeping on top of the releases of Paranoid Android and the Dark Knight Kernel for a a few weeks now and been loving it!

I haven't encountered any issues what so ever in any of the revisions :)

I love all the different smooth animations when coming in and out of apps, taking pictures, etc!

Battery is the same as ever, makes it throughout the day with about 15-20% left by the time I plug it in at night.

I can't seem to mount the phone as USB storage any more... unless I'm missing something obvious! It's a non issue tho, I just jump into recovery and do it from there :)

Phone upgrade coming up soon, T-Mobile confirms I'm eligible for my upgrade 10th November. If it's like my S2 upgrade, it won't cost me any more than about £10. Do I need to factory reset the phone if I sell it? I've not put any custom roms on, it's just gone from gingerbread to ICS 4.0.2 and now 4.0.4. The phone ran better before ICS, never had any freezeups or glitches. Perfect condition, mark/scratch free, kept in s-line silicone cases since new in june 2011, what do you reckon I'll get for it come november?

Have you added any apps recently? I was having a similar problem, went through and deleted a load of apps, and clearly there was something destroying my battery. Today is the first day for a long time when Android OS is not the most battery-consuming process.

EDIT: Could someone explain quickly - if I install a ROM which requires a full wipe in CWM, does this also wipe CWM? Last time I installed a ROM, I somehow got rid of CWM as well, which made future changes a real pain (I'm on a Mac, so no Odin :()!

full wipe in cwm means that you need to wipe everything you can from cwm.. you can leave battery stats.. :) but it won't wipe CWM.. every rom has its own tbh so when you install a new ROM it will install new CWM a lot of times with kernel tweaks and so on.. so dont worry about it :) must be a dodgy rom you had last time

yeah i will have to check the apps.. maybe something is keeping it awake even tho it doesn't show :o

Ace, cheers.

I think that for me it was Sky Go that was doing my battery in, if that's any help.
