****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Hmm appears theres a hardware issue with my phone. I thought it was the OS just gone qwirky, but now that I've put a different rom on, the problems are still there.

If i power down the phone, it immediately starts powering backup & it doesn't display anything all at while it boots, just a blank screen and then its fine.

Any ideas?

EDIT - now wifi doesnt appear to want to turn on! Damit, time to chop it into muzmamobile I think, £200 new or £90 broken. I suppose it kinda works? :o

Have you checked the USB port on the phone for dust and stuff? Sometimes things in there can cause issues like this.

Here's mine of Paranoid 1.95a, only light usage for today.

Will post heavy usage tomorrow after work if anyone is interested

Hows the battery on Para, its kinda fail on stock CM10, its not so bad during the week as I can charge at work but pain during weekend.

I'm getting 24 hours out of para + siyah kernel with normal usage so I can't complain. Its certainly good enough for a daily ROM in fact I've had no issues at all with it. Very impressed. 1.96 should be out soon and that brings some further improvements (its already out for the nexus). Its worth waiting for that if it isn't already out:)

Soooo, the touchscreen on my phone has decided to die, so i'm going to have to send it back to T-Mobile for repair. I've flashed an unbranded stock ROM on, but should I put a T-Mobile UK ROM on before I send it back?

Would they refuse to fix the screen if it's running a non-standard ROM (even through the two "issues" have no relation what so ever?!)

If I 'do' need to flash a T-Mobile UK ROM, would someone mind linking me to it please?

Thanks!

Some news on JB, although it implies if Samsung dont release JB for the S2, they will release a sort of goody bag update for ICS.

Still, there’s a slight chance that Samsung won’t be able to update the Galaxy S II to Jelly Bean, though we’re not sure how they’re going to be able to explains this to millions of fans who own one of the most popular smartphone on the market.

I think, more to the point, they would need to explain why not when people are already running JB on the s2 lol

Surely if the Galaxy Nexus can run Jellybean, then it shouldn't be unreasonable to expect the S2 do run it well too?

Although once they've plastered TouchQiz all over it and installed their crap Samsung-made apps it could be a different story.

Guys, I was on android 4.0.3 for a while. Sky Go recently started working. However, today my phone has decided to update to 4.0.4. Now Sky Go doesn't work anymore.

Does anyone have 4.0.4 phones with Sky Go working?

TouchWiz is awesome - just needs the ICS/JB theme applying.

The only thing that is awesome about it is a handful of features more so in the newer version on the GS 3 :p (but the majority of these have now been ported over :p)

Originally it was amazing when the GS 2 was top dog, largely due to how smooth and quick it was compared to sense etc. and having superb media playback (still does, but sense V4 is much better in this area now, touchwiz would still be better though and the SE's skin/software is also very good at this area) but now nearly all the top-mid end phones are extremely quick and smooth and the difference will be even less once phones get JB and for the other areas they are more or less the same as well, strengths and weaknesses here and there etc. :p

Essentially it just comes down to what you like the look of the most regarding the UI, stock apps etc.

Touchwiz just needs a complete over haul for the stock touchwiz apps and colour scheme/UI.

But yeah just like the majority of android phones, there is no reason the GS 2 shouldn't get JB, but then again there was no reason why the desire couldn't get 2.3 officially (and yes I know that HTC did "try" to bring it and have got an update available to dl online, but there was no reason why they couldn't have dropped some sense stuff to make it work perfectly well and release it publicly/OTA) as well as many many other phones and the exact same goes for ICS and the nexus one, desire HD, galaxy S etc. etc.

It is just the nature of android and the biggest weakness, which unfortunately google don't seem to give a **** about :(

The phone is more than capable of receiving the next version of android whatever it will be 5.0, however, the chances of it getting that update are pretty much zero where as the GN will probably get the update.
