****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

JB maybe? :) dunno been running chameleon rom on mine for a month now and its as stable as it gets, no visible bugs i can see and i probably had 3-5 crashes in a month! :) all due to launcher too.

battery life is good-ish too, i get around 3-3.5hrs thorough the day - its around 18months old now and still with the stock battery.

Since flashing to the 4.1.2 Nordic ROM I guess there's been an OTA update from my provider (Orange) as I'm getting the 'Software update' message come up. Is there anyway I can stop it as it will only let me snooze it and the update fails if I try and install it. The fail message I get after it reboots is 'Failed to update firmware. Try again using PC software ...'.

Am I going to have to flash back to stock Orange and let the update go ahead? Or is there a later ROM I can put on with ODIN to jog it on?

Sign out of your samsung account if that's an option, should stop it.

Or remove software update using titanium backup.

Do I need to be rooted to remove it, even via Titanium backup? I don't own TBackup yet.

EDIT: think I've answered that by investigating Titanium. I take it I need to be rooted to use Titanium backup properly.

Firm ware update for my handset this morning, which is nice to see. I've been having major battery issue since JB. I can use easily 80% + of my batter in about 10 hours. With only minor usage too.

Hoping new firmware will bring an improvement to this behaviour. ICS was much better for batter life.

I'm wondering whether anyone will be able to help me, last year my Brother donated his S2 to me, which was nice but he had broken the screen. I'm going to be replacing this soon as I didn't have much time beforehand due to University etc.

From my understanding it was locked to Vodafone, is there anyway to flash the phone or something like that to make it sim free? As I'd rather not have to pay one of the guys at the stalls to do it for me.

Cheers all :)

Edit: Sorry if this has already been asked

This worked for me, think it was only about £3. App tells you if your phone can be unlocked before you commit. Think phone must be rooted first.
