****The Official Samsung Galaxy S II Thread***

Battery use is still terrible. 44% from a full charge at 8.30am this morning. It's barely been used as well.

I've tried another battery, and it's the same story. Before I installed it I had no issues with battery life - it'd last a full day and then right through work the next.

I'm with 3 and not used my phone in a week or so. Stock ICS or whatever 3 rolled out earlier afew months ago.

I turned it on and was asked to update over wi-fi. It was a 35 mb download or something. The phone rebooted and the Android logo came up and did it's thing. I was just wondering what this update is if anybody knows? Maybe battery fix?

You guys using the stock cm10? Been looking to give it a try and seen some good feedback here, apart from the battery life.

Edit: Just found it :D, will report back tomorrow when I flash it.

I did this update this morning. Cant see any visual difference. Phone does seem a little bit snappier tho.

Still 4.0.3... I was hoping it was 4.0.4. What is this battery fix you speak of?

I havent noticed anything wrong with my battery.

Been using CM10 since yesterday morning, everything seems fine to me. Initially I had major battery drain and the phone was getting really hot with no use. Discovered that the Glass Widgets news widget was causing it, as soon as I removed that everything was fine.

Love the improved notifications and Google Now seems pretty nifty. All of my apps seem to work fine on JB, with the exception of Apex launcher which is fine except I can't add a gesture to launch an app when swiping up on a dock icon, gives you the option to select an app, but no way to confirm it, only Clear or Cancel.

First update.

Only things I can see so far that are an issue are that the Natwest App doesn't show the balances of my accounts or any of the people I can pay......and in the contacts list, they seem to have removed the ability to join contacts. Other than that, all looks well so far.

Oh.....would still like to be able to long press the home screen and add an app / widget and not be given just the option to choose a wallpaper. Only way I have been able to do this is through the app screen and then long press on either the app icon or scroll into the widgets and do the same there

When you've got your app selected, hit the capacitive menu button, and you'll get the "OK" option. I've got Google Now set to swipe-up :)

Second update...with screenies

After an day of sat on my work desk with very minimal interaction between me and phone have got the following

I'm just about to put CM9 on my S2 after I back some stuff up, am I better off using the RC2 or the latest nightly release? What's the actual difference?

I'd go with the latest nightly, Just contains fixes which RC2 might not have.

The Halk, What is your screen on time for that shot? Wifi on all the time? Data on? Brightness? Stock or Extended battery? etc

I'll be sticking with CM10 for the moment but after a couple of releases I'll move back over to ParanoidAndroid, Loved the ICS version of that ROM :)

I'm back on stock now.. and the battery problems seem gone.

Mattey, my screenshot shows that it's the android OS draining the battery, rather than the screen. The settings were no different though than I normally run - brightness on auto, wifi on, bluetooth off, GPS off. Standard battery.

It often felt warm to the touch. I couldn't find any apps running that shouldn't have been.

Been using CM10 for 1 day, here are my thoughts.

Very fast, everything is somewhat instant and something I really havnt seen on any other phone/OS. It does at times lag a bit but thats more downt to the rom but 99% of the time its fastest things Ive seen.

Overally UI is much nicer then even ICS, it has taken all the amazing improves and pushed them forward, the overall UI feels more polished, and even slicker. Really loving the new notifcation bar, just taken it a step forward in 1 place I always thought android got things right from the start.

All in all I'm enjoying Jelly Bean, need to play around with google now but will do that later on :D

CM10 sounds really good - all these fast speeds quotes make me tempted to have a go.

When will CM10 release a really stable reliable ROM do you think? within weeks?

I didn't like cm10, I prefer the paranoid android take on it. It's pretty quick for what amounts to a beta release, it's no quicker than the slim ICS ROM I have been using though. Battery life is in the toilet though, both cm10 and pa losing 1% per minute at times under use. Standby is so so. Early days so things can only get better.

Got my Galaxy SII about a month ago, and I love it. Such a step up from Windows Phone.
As soon as I got it, I jumped straight into the deep end and rooted it, then flashed the latest version of Resurrection Remix. The customization options is amazing for a phone, which is right up my alley, as I love to tinker and optimize my phone, which is something that was none exsistant on my Lumia 800.
I think it's safe to say that Android is the platform most suited to me.
