***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Believe it or not, there was a reason for asking but thanks for the condescension.

I noticed on the One X that certain CM ROMs all flashed over the device's WiFi MAC address, effectively giving all One X handsets with that ROM the same address.

Hence, if it's doing the same here, and he has MAC filtering on, the WiFI won't work.

I didn't mean it in any negative way, people have varying technical knowledge on here. I didn't know of that issue!

As for moving to an iPhone 5...no. Having just come from a 4S which offers a close enough experience, and having a play with iOS 6, I see nothing at all that would make me switch. Will definitely be taking a look at it when I go by an Apple Store next though.

I've tried flashing stock XXBLG8 through Odin, then flashed CM10. Still didn't work. I give up :(

Did you do a full wipe after you installed ICS?

The way I did it was:

- Full factory wipe
- Install ICS
- Boot up device and run the set-up wizard
- Boot into recovery and do a full factory wipe
- Install CM10

Just flashed yesterday's CM10 nightly... flashed from criskelo rom 6.0.1 - wifi connected with no problems :)

Was a bit dubious of flashing it, but so far it seems fine :) really smooth too!

Was going to restore my titanium backup without restoring app data, will that work?

Enigma, have you at any point flashed a Samsung JB Rom?

Smokedog, I'm at work at the moment so I'll try again later. Although I'm sure I flashed and wiped everything in that order.

Benjo, no I've never flashed a Sammy jelly bean ROM... I went from stock to CM9, to Criskelo 5.3, then to criskelo 6.0.1 (both 4.0.4) then tried foxhound 1.4.4 (also 4.0.4) didn't like that so went back to criskelo 6.0.1 (via backup) now just flashed CM10.. No problems as of yet... It's a cracking ROM!

lets be honest.. the ppi is similar/higher on iphone than it is on s3.. so in the end its just numbers? you want a hd screen for clarity don't you? so iphone5 is a better screen in this case even tho it is smaller.. :p

PPI means nothing, quote screen resolution if you want to talk numbers. I could quite easily have a half inch screen showing 320x240 pixels and it would have a higher "PPI" than any phone out today. PPI is nothing but marketing number shuffling.

When you flash back to the ICS rom make sure you go through the setup process and connect to wifi AND NFC, ( I had the NFC problem and fixed it this way).

I followed this from the PA Thread on XDA to fix my problems...

1. Nandroid backup your PA rom
2. download stock XXLG8 4.0.4 ICS Stock Rom, Odin version
3. flash above mentioned ROM, it won't boot, will be stuck on samsung bootanimation, don't worry.
4. take out battery and reinsert it, put phone in Download mode, check phone bootloader update in Odin and flash same stock ICS Rom second time
5. again put phone to download mode, flash CF Root and go to CWM recovery and Wipe data/cache/dalvik
6. now boot into stock ICS 4.0.4 XXLG8 Rom
7. go to settings, more settings and enable NFC
8. reboot into CWM recovery and Nandroid restore your backup of PA Rom you made earlier
