***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Yeah it is rather weird that, news sites where all over the problems with the one x and s I.e. The Chipping problems, screen flex etc. And same for the Iphone 5 etc. and this was all within a few weeks after the release. This sudden death problem is a more serious problem than aesthetic issues and has been happening for quite a while now.....

Tbh I don't blame you, it is ****ing me of as well now and is largely why I am considering the move to the nexus 4 now.

Oh yes, it's a serious problem yet it seems confined to forums such as OCUK and XDA. Surely someone would've picked up on this and put it in the public domain. I bet Samsung are keeping their fingers crossed that this doesn't leak and go viral...

You've been really patient with regards to JB hitting your HOS, if I were in your shoes I would've blown a gasket a long time ago!

I think it's time you moved onto the Nexus 4 :)

Maybe Samsung are paying the sites to not publish an article about this issue...... :p

I am mainly waiting for gsmarena's review, more people's thoughts and for Google to release a software update to fix some issues like the battery drain but I will give htc till the end of this month and if there is still no sign of JB then the nexus 4 it is.

I think the review will come soon and Google will release an update to fix the issues.

I remember when the Galaxy Nexus was released there were several bugs and Google updated the software in a timely manner.

Users of the Nexus range are always beta testers until the bugs are ironed out!

I popped down to Phones4U but they were closing up, I asked how much the Note II was and the chap stated that it was £509, I asked him to run it through the till to check the price but they were closing so I wasn't able to find out the price :(

Will try the Phones4U at work tomorrow

I think I'll give the S3 LTE a miss I feel like something different too, it's just getting used to the sheer size of the Note II, its mahooosive!

^^ Worth noting (HAH!) that I initially asked them for Sim free but he said it may be cheaper buying PayG as the phone is sim free anyway, you just get a PayG sim with it with £10 credit and that's what came up at £459.99 :)

I wasn't gonna complain at that price!

Note II rooted and Wanam installed, now to restore my stuff :D

Wow, you don't hang about mrk! :D

Is JB Domination available for the Note 2?

Now you're in a unique position to compare the Note 2 vs S3, especially how Wanam runs on both devices.

Congratulations Mate! :)

Cheers :)

I'll give my first feedback after tomorrow at work because I know what reception, battery drain and usage patterns are like there.

I couldn't find a JBDom on XDA but a good looking theme does exist here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1930847

Wanam on the S3 has AndroidGX in Aroma as an optional theme but there isn't one for the N2 yet it seems, I'll be flashing the above shortly as I cannot stand the grey notification bar!

Re warranties and rooting 'n stuff my son's s3 is apparently ok at the mo except it has tripped its water indicator, with no ill effects, would that affect Sammies response in relation to this dead s3 issue.

That being triggered is pretty much a get out clause for pretty much any malfunction, depends if you get lucky or not.

That's pretty much as I'd figured it from my readings here and elsewhere :(

It should be possible to automatically log the immersion on the device and check phone activity afterwards if it causes no problem and a simple manual check for physical water damage would prove it wasn't an issue, peh.

fingers crossed then.

Well I have an update....I now have a Note II :o

Did you own one of the original Note's?

It might be handy if your S3 is away for repair for a week or two, as when I got the Note, initially I loved it, but after 2 weeks I realised it was just too big. I wanted to be able to operate it with one hand, it that just wasn't possible.

Well I've got my N4 all set up and I have to say, its a cracking bit of kit.

Definitely feels a lot more premium than the S3.

Its a shame that the S3 packed out on me as before yesterday it gave me no troubles at all and was an awesome way to kick off my adventure with Android. But to see and read so many peoples phones do the same thing just made the decision to get the N4 an easy one.

I'm really liking it so far, it fits in my top pockets which is the main thing so at work or not, it's always seated nicely. I'll know more after a few days but so far so good!

See I'd have gone for the N4 eaisly but the only thing bugging me was no SD card slot, I paid over £40 for this 64GB card and damned if I'm not gonna be using it!

You're not welcome here anymore

:mad::mad::mad:

Getting concerned with this dieing issue that seems to be coming more common now, hopefully it won't happen to me, but as we don't know if a specific batch or whatever is affected, and the link for Samsung service repairs was posted, my closest just happens to be 10 mins from my house according to the list.

Another thing which is happening to mine at the moment, every now and then the screen goes extremely bright, and I mean it's even brighter than the max, you can set it in the display - anything I should be concerned about?

Went to the shops and tried a Note 2, put it in my pocket and it was too big for my jeans (slim fit jeans).

Decided the phone was too big for me and ended up getting a S3 LTE via Gumtree for £400, unlocked within 10 mins via ebay and I'm ready to go.

I'm hoping that as the S3 LTE was made later that hopefully it won't suffer the same fate as the S3, fingers crossed.

Am going to Root and install Pandoriam ROM with JB Domination, my Pebble Blue S3 will be going to fonebank tomorrow.
