***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

I am pleased with the result :) This should have been the result the first time round of course but at least it's been sorted.

Now, where to sell this thing....

Good result in the end! As you say though, that should've happened from the offset!

I would but your phone to keep for a spare in case mine commits suicide but alas, funds are a little tight... feel free to sell me your rock case if you've still got it :)

No probs mrk :) was worth an ask!

I worked out earlier that my phone is currently on 149 days of active duty and going strong...

There's a lot of talk on XDA about it being related to the bootloader causing constant writing to the NAND and causing the eMMC chip to fail - don't know if there's any truth in this, but the consensus over there is that any bootloader starting with an A (eg. mine is I9300ALF6 was written before the bug came about... so should be considered "safe"

Not sure how much truth is behind this, but I thought I'd pass on what I've read :)

If you want to check, download Android System Info from the Play Store and go to the System tab and tap on Buildinfos, that'll give you your bootloader version :)

Anybody else get the "Storage space running out" notification, only to find that you have multiple GBs free? I would screenshot the storage settings screen but apparently "Device storage is full delete some items."

The storage settings show:

Total Space:11.25GB
Apps: 391MB
Pics, videos: 35MB
Audio: 20KB
Misc: 99.22MB

The colour bar along the top shows it at 90% grey (I assume thats means unused space) so why is it telling me I have no space!?

This happened once before and I could only get round it by wiping the device.

Any ideas anyone? I cant actually do anything now as theres no space apparently (although I see 11gb free - all internal no sd)

Not really sure what would be causing that. Have you got an external sd card?

Can you confirm with something like Disk Usage that there's definitely space there?

Are you rooted?

edit: You wont be able to install that will you :p Have you got a file manager installed?

There's a lot of talk on XDA about it being related to the bootloader causing constant writing to the NAND and causing the eMMC chip to fail -

I can believe that !

Years ago I designed some test gear with flash on board which was rated at 100K rewrites, my software engineers managed to kill it with FOUR system updates !!!!

They had the update algorithm a bit wrong

Nope, no external storage at all and no file managers. Not rooted anymore although has been previously. I dont want to wipe it again :(

On my sisters Galaxy Ace we had a similar issue , but as soon as I removed the Facebook app other apps started installing fine. Remove something you've recently installed as that might be the cause.

You should have already. It was included in the XELLA update. It's just been extracted and merged into third party kernels for those of us that aren't on stock.

Just removed all apps and its still borked :(. Even after removing 400+mb of apps it says 14mb free space!

Have you tried reflashing the ROM with Odin?

After I installed CM10.1 and all my partitions got screwed up (couldn't reflash via CWM as it wouldn't affect anything, I'd factory reset, flash a ROM, boot and it would be just as it was before I turned it off...) I flashed a stock 4.0.4 ROM with Odin and it must've reset the partition table or something - at least everything works as it should again - so it's gotta be worth a shot if yours is fubar! :)
