***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

This was a recent speedtest I did where I live in London, Vodafone on a non-LTE S3 :D

Well I'd like to thank you all for enduring my various questions the last few days. For what it's worth it wasn't hot air... I picked up a spanking new S3 LTE tonight for £300 still sealed and BNIB. It was an unwanted upgrade (the guy had an iPhone 5 and wanted cash to pay off his contract). I even got the original ee receipt for warranty purposes. :) I'm in love with the thing, but need to get my sim chomped down to micro size tomorrow to play properly.... Not sure I'll even sleep haha :p

Thanks very much again everyone, I'm looking forward to exploring it properly tomorrow. I already have a Tab 2 7" so TouchWiz is second nature now. Bring on the rooting and unlocking. :D

Last night I was just browsing on my S3 and suddenly the screen turned black and started flashing, after 5-10 seconds the phone just turned off.

I tried turning it back on again but no luck so I thought I'd just leave it be and try this morning.

8 hours later the phone turned on but the black screen happens so randomly and then the phone just turns off and I have to manually power it on again.

Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

Thanks

^^^ Sound like you might have the sudden death bug?

Congrats - awesome deal you got there.

There a dedicated thread for the LTE S3 - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18472749

Anyone else had/having the problem of not being able to connect to the internet when you click the Wifi/Mobile data option from the status bar?

I'm not quite sure as the problems were very random, it hasn't happened since the last post. Which firmware do i need to flash? I already flashed to the the ELLA about 5-6 days ago, at which time there was no definitive answer as to whether it fixed the sudden death issue.

Was hoping I wasn't the only one with issues. Checked my phone after work and it had no internet signal at all and hasn't had one for hours now

The updated firmware just came with the fixed kernel :p

If you're stock, you'll get a firmware update.

Pardon my lack of knowledge here, but is it definite that the newest firmware comes with the fixed kernel to fix the sds issue? Also, what's the name of the latest kernel?

I've got the latest stock UK rom on my s3, my kernel is:

3.0.31-742798
se.infra@SEP-111 #1
SMP PREEMPT Sat Dec 22 17:04:04 KST
2012

Thanks

Can anyone recommend an alternative ROM to Cyanogen, I am finding it to be really buggy.

Are you on the latest nightly by any chance? I think there were some vysnc issues causing it to become really laggy.

Isn't this built on CM? :p

I don't know what Samsung called the kernel, but as long as you're using XXELLA than you should have the updated kernel!

Anyone this isn't running stock, just grab one of the latest custom kernels as they've all included the fix by now.
