Turn it on? joking aside, it should be updated or close to fully updated, if not run a update check or connect to KIES (download from samsung) and let that do it for you, other than that enjoy it.
 
Hi all, Ive decided to buy a micro SD card for it, what brand/type would you recommend.
It's taken me 15 mins to transfer a 1.3 GB file :( so I think SD card is the way to go plus get loads more storage, I might as well get a 64 GB card and be done with.
 
Hello, I'm in a bit of a fix here.

One evening my S3 froze three times and each time I had to remove the battery. This was a bit iffy so I started to back my stuff up to my SD card, once I done that and selected 'Safely remove SD card' my phone froze once more, this time it rebooted itself and hung at the b/w Samsung Galaxy SIII boot screen. After several attempts it would not boot. I booted into recovery (CWM) and did a full factory reset to no avail, I then used odin to flash to the very latest stable firmware (XELLA) and it was still doing the same thing. I was running Wanamlite (14 I think) when it died.

I rather hastily returned it to the EE store I got it from and it was sent away for repair, it's come back today with a note saying the warranty is void due to 'Software download or network unlock has voided warranty' from the Ashford Samsung repair centre.

So I have a few options, the first is the most satisfying - nuke it into orbit. Second is push for them to repair or lastly I can try and return it to a 'stock' state. In download mode the binary count is '2' which I suspect is what's giving the game up, is there anyway I can return it to stock despite it failing to load past the initial screen.

Help please.

Hi all I've had to send my s3 to Samsung for repair as it keeps freezing and crashing. Anyone know how long it will take to repair, I've read is possible a motherboard problem.
 
Janesy. There's a thread over on xda in relation to the sudden death issue where there's info on the legal implications of flashing / warranty. The short version is unless its proven that the software is directly responsible then it does not void any warranty, given the problem with the emmc bug and Samsung I think you should take a read of it and base your response on it.

i got mine sent back with the screen on, in a frozen state , they said they just flashed the latest firmware lol . Anyway after 5-6 days now of ****ing about with it its now gone 2 days without a single freeze after freezing every 2-3 min !!! , still not sure wtf to do with it :(
 
I am assuming if I flashed to Wanam 5.3 (XELLA) and selected ROM, Kernel and Modem updates that the Sudden Death issue is patched on this one?
 
Another question from me!

My gf's s3 is on 4.0.4 still and seems to lack the 'software update' button?!

Is there a code or way to check for the update? Could just use Kies I guess, but seems soo much easier just doing it quickly ota.
 
would installing JB Domination theme void a warranty repair?

Also if you install a different kernel to the samsung one does that void warranty repair?

Sorry one more question, there's no way to recover the phone if it suffers from the SDS is there? Afaik only Samsung can do this?
 
Ok my story I had a HTC DESIRE HD which is burnt to a crisp. I got it SIM FREE and then TESCO mobile deal £10/pm - loved it.

Anyway the upgrade is now an S3 :)

First attempt was on holiday it was a contract with 3. Something really stupid like £80 handset and then just £16/pm unlimited DATA 5k txt 100min. Sadly no-blow, 3 think I owe them money, they must have made a mistake we've even a debt letter from some stupid company claiming this - I used my mums card originally with the phonestore and hoping they cannot just swipe £211? No one has a contract here and three said it was 2005 (I WAS 16 THEN) so anyway its pretty much a no-go.

I found another deal no where near as good with O2! used my details, all correct - failed.

Anyway *swears* it. Buy it SIM ONLY and carry over with Tesco. I paid £409 from a known online store (incase competitor rules). but I've seen it from £350-£400 if you are willing to buy from SPAIN, GERMANY or have it shipped from HONG KONG (watch out). Anyway Tesco just dropped them to £410 (not sure if you can go instore for that)

So anyway I've a nice blue S3 en route this week. I was gunna login and email/msg Tesco if they can send me a SIM CARD for my account. Or if there are more tarrifs about I think £10/pm 1gb 500mins 5k txts (rolling contract) I pay. I want my exsisting num.

Ok the exciting bit what mad accessories are people getting? I was looking for a docking station for next to my bed, maybe one that makes the phone more like a fancy alarm clock and/or can sit sideways? things like this?

Need a case, pen, screen covers. Is there a way you can hook the S3 upto a TV? I would imagine with quad CPU it'd playback 720p on a TV sweet?

If three think you owe them money you may need to fix your credit rating asap or your mums - mobile companies are not nice people when you are in debt to them. I am guessing you are fairly young by your un-ironic use of "gunna" so getting this fixed now is a higher priority as you are more likely to need loans, finance or mortgages etc... in a few years.

Get a months trial through experian and work out who has black marked you and sort it.
