***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

It is rather expensive! But you could be achieving 6+ hours on screen time with it   Mobile fun do generally cost a bit more than their competitors though (their service is top class)

I could get it for free from them in order to do a mini review, if I had a GS 3 that is :p

Plan!

you get it in, I test it on my S3 and report all results back to you, of course all testing to be carried out to your standards :)

Don't forget, with the added bloat of that batt+cover you may have issues finding a decent case (if you use them in the first place).

The S3 is nice to hold in the hand, it's just frigging ugly.

I'm definitely going to get a phone I feel is good looking because the way Samsung is heading with the design is something I'm really not into, I can't see them changing the design radically and comparing the Xperia Z to the S3 its a no brianer in my view which I'd rather have.

You say that now....... :D :p

Nice  I just hope that Samsung move away from their current design i.e. all capacitive buttons or on screen buttons, less curvy corners, no glossy shiny plastic with a brush effect, preferably something like the one X and improve the colour scheme/apps for touchwiz!

No no no no noooo

I'll go against the grain here, I love my S3.

I did slate the design when I watched the sammy press conference, but having had it since launch I can honestly say it's spot on, size, weight, functionality all perfect for me. yes it's plastic but I don't care, it's not about cachet so a titanium monoframed chassis wrapped in carbon fibre would be wasted upon me especially if it added to the price of the damn thing.

TW is a very mixed bag, the aesthetics are terrible I concede but Samsung do bring some nice touches to android, I'm sure that the S4 would be adopted by communities such as xda etc just like the S/S2/S3 have been which means custom skins anyway.

Thou shall not remove the physical home key, at the very worst go capacitive but with raised bump / ridges to indicate it's location, no on screen button malarkey please Samsung it's not big and it's definitely not clever!! It's all a matter of personal preference of course but as a long time Galaxy user I would hope that Samsung recognise a winning formula and stick with it, the odd tweak here and there is allowed but don't go making sweeping radical changes.

I agree the plastic build is the least of it's design problems. Ergonomics are excellent as said.

I quite like my S3 now but the area I'd change is the bit under the screen. Needs to be smaller and have capacitive buttons that disappear like the back and menu. I'd miss the physic home key for the wake function but the could be cleaver and still implement it but be a lot more subtle.

I'd love for them to take the Samsung badge of the front too - it'll never happen though.

TW is fine as you gain a lot of features and it can be skinned to AOSP.

I don't "really" have a problem with the plastic being used (would love for an aluminium uni-body, unfortunately I can never see that happening :(), just the shiny/glossy finish they apply :p Imagine how much better the GS 3 would have looked with the finish of the one X or lumia 800 plastic *drool* and it would have felt even better too!

Touchwiz is great in terms of the features you get (especially the note II touchwiz version), they just need to drop their colour scheme for stock android theme or something a bit more "professional" looking and completely redesign their apps as they are too messy and their isn't any unified feel throughout.

Supposedly the upcoming smart features for the next version of touchwiz are awesome, eye scroll (like fling page down and up etc.) and eye pause so a film etc. pauses when you look away from the screen.

I've just changed from an Iphone 4 to an S3, anybody know how to set email ageing? I've set my hotmail up on it but it's old loading emails from 2009  good thing I didnt set it to download all!

Just wondering whether it's still viable to pick up an S3 on contract? There are some good cheap deals out there now and I'm in need of a new phone, although I know that the S4 is just around the corner (March ish?)

Edit: Just noticed the Nexus 4 is back in stock

I've never found smart stay and the like reliable anyway so introducing even more just seems pointless.

I think it is superb feature (only the smart stay feature, but those supposedly 2 new things would be very good and extremely useful for me), however, the problem is, the only time I really would need smart stay etc. is at night when lying in bed thus it won't work due to not being able to see my face in the dark :p Works great in other conditions though.

What's wrong with my poor sig? :( is it my cpuz link? It must be I guess, everything else is just text lol

Sig rules....

A signature may contain one or more images but they must fit within a box with maximum dimensions of 400 x 75 pixels (width x height) and with a maximum (combined) file size of 20k. Images containing mostly very large words or animated .gifs will not be permitted. You may also add 1 consecutive lines of normal or smaller text directly above or underneath the image with no spaces inbetween image and text. If no images are used then up to 4 consecutive lines of normal or smaller text is permitted. Do not pad out your text lines with blanks lines. A line of text is defined as having a maximum length of 400 pixels.

Only one line of text with an image. :)

Smart rotate is nice too. Very useful when slouching somewhere haha.

Hi people I had sent my s3 off to Samsung repair centre as it was crashing loads, I received it today with a letter saying they found a fault and successfully repaired it. They didn't say what went wrong or how they repaired it. But now it doesn't work at all, it gets to the Samsung logo and crashes every time? So ****ed off as I do love this phone

Fancy a bit of a change from stock rom, quite liking the GUI of the nexus devices, can anyone recommend a good rom with a similar GUI?

Thanks

Not sure, I've only ever run it on custom ROMs but if you find the thread on XDA or their website it should tell you.
