How does that work mate? I would LOVE to do this to mine!!

I know the phone charges by sitting on the base but... how... does it make electricity jump into the battery??

Magnetic field inducing a charge in a copper coil strapped into the back of the phone which then charges the battery iirc, or something along those lines.

There's a mod somewhere that enables NFC on the lockscreen or with the screen off.

Shouldn't make much difference in your case though. I thought S-Beam uses NFC to establish a wifi direct connection to transfer the files. Wifi direct should stay on regardless of the lockscreen/screen off.

There is a setting that turns wifi off when the phone goes to sleep, cant for the life of me remember what its called though.

Wifi direct works better for me, I too have had transfer issues with s-beam to the point where I just don't bother.

Thanks for this. I had mixed results with sbeam/nfc again and tried wifi direct and it worked both times I tried. Will be the way I transfer large files from now on.

Hi all sorry if this has been covered before but I cant transfer files to my s3 via USB and when I could it seemed to take ages - I got a notification saying my device can perform faster if connected to a USB 2 port, but as far all my ports are USB 2 and it says that regardless of what one I plug it into.

Has anyone else had this problem and what method do you use for transfering files ?

I've had this problem before - try a different cable. also try a different pc to single out the issue.

OK I can transfer files again but it still seems very slow, so with that in mind I think cable and PC are ok it just wont transfer at USB 2 speed.

Hey!

I'm finding it hard to sift through ALL the sgs3 data on xda and sammobile...

What is the most recent unbranded stock firmware for the sgs3?

Thanks :)

Most recent unbranded UK firmware is I9300XXELLA.

I9300XXELLC is newer, but I'm not sure where it's from. Not been keeping up with the Samsung firmware :)

Thanks, I sussed out a better way of sorting through Sammobile in the end and I came to that conclusion :) So its 0XXELLA that's on it now, used the 3 branded version to keep the 3 modem.

I'm in a playful mood at the moment tho, so I'm going to pap Sotmax on it now with that 555 kernel :)

do you have the three modem please?

Is there a nack for getting films transferred to another S3 via nfc/sbeam or should it work all the time?

There's 4 people at work who Ive tried to send films to with the above method and most of the time it fails. It can be 10% into the transfer or 100% (was just about to finalise and then failed). Ive tried a gap of a few mm's to a few inches and its always the same.

Makes me very :(

It's worked a couple times for me but it's very hit and miss. Quite poor actually. I also have trouble downloading large files from my pc to the phone over wireless, the phone has to be totally idle for any hope of success. With a cable it works every time.
