***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Getting sick of this phone!

Back in November it suffered from "sudden death" where it just wouldn't do anything what so ever, returned to vodafone who put a new motherboard in it.

In the past week its been playing up again, its started to freeze on the standby screen, and only a battery pull will 'solve' it.... however while it is froze if someone phones me im obviously not aware of them calling, but to them my phone is ringing, so they obviously think im ignoring them.

Its also started resetting itself probably around once a day

I guess the only option is to return it again, but I've a feeling that because it is an intermittent fault, they might just flash the firmware and return it to me... for it to happen again:rolleyes:

When you got it back, did you make sure it was on the latest firmware (the one with the sudden death fix)?

I imagine it's something Samsung would do.. but I'd at least make sure so you can prevent it from happening again.

School me because I'm dumb. I did a simple kernel replacement root (CF) and didn't get CWM because of this. If i want to install CWM packages, does standard android recovery support them? While at first pass the answer is no, wanted to check if I could avoid installing it. bizarrely CF root did install the CWM management app but it has nothing to do, because CWM isn't there.

It is a shame that they didn't get it released at least 2 months ago, as you said GS 4 announcement around May probably.

Grey and blue could make a good combination :p :D

You say that now....... :D :p

Nice  I just hope that Samsung move away from their current design i.e. all capacitive buttons or on screen buttons, less curvy corners, no glossy shiny plastic with a brush effect, preferably something like the one X and improve the colour scheme/apps for touchwiz!

No no no no noooo

I'll go against the grain here, I love my S3.

I did slate the design when I watched the sammy press conference, but having had it since launch I can honestly say it's spot on, size, weight, functionality all perfect for me. yes it's plastic but I don't care, it's not about cachet so a titanium monoframed chassis wrapped in carbon fibre would be wasted upon me especially if it added to the price of the damn thing.

TW is a very mixed bag, the aesthetics are terrible I concede but Samsung do bring some nice touches to android, I'm sure that the S4 would be adopted by communities such as xda etc just like the S/S2/S3 have been which means custom skins anyway.

Thou shall not remove the physical home key, at the very worst go capacitive but with raised bump / ridges to indicate it's location, no on screen button malarkey please Samsung it's not big and it's definitely not clever!! It's all a matter of personal preference of course but as a long time Galaxy user I would hope that Samsung recognise a winning formula and stick with it, the odd tweak here and there is allowed but don't go making sweeping radical changes.

The S3 is such a boring design, however it is very easy to hold and use.
I really hope they up their game for the S4, combining both style and decent ergonomics

Tempting, but 1) it's £40!! and 2) My new Rock case wouldn't fit any more!

It is rather expensive! But you could be achieving 6+ hours on screen time with it   Mobile fun do generally cost a bit more than their competitors though (their service is top class)

I could get it for free from them in order to do a mini review, if I had a GS 3 that is :p
