***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

There are water markers on the other internals too though that you should check, all phones come with a minimum of 2 if there is a removal battery and some have 3 (usually on the reverse of the PCB for #3).

It sounds like you need a replacement digitizer and screen (comes as a bonded combo on an S3) assuming that nothing else is damaged and that the digitizer has been permanently damaged and isn't just shorting due to the recent water.

Give it a day or two to dry out then try again then take the decision if you want to try fixing it.

Fully charge the devuce before doing anything. Try to boot into recovery first by presseing Volup+home+power let go of power at the GT-i9300 screen use the vol keys to go up and down the menu and power to select perform a wipe data/factory reset and also wipe cache then reboot the device. First boot will take ages so just let it sit for a while.

If that dont work try a stock rom from sammobile.com current rom is 4.3 go with the UK generic (just says UK in the country section) and flash via odin.

Back to stock is probably the best option then or go with Paranoid Android as the OTA they have implimented will download and install the update for him via a boot script.

Stock ROM and unrooted?
Or Stock ROM while still having root access?

Any links to how I can do this?

Only used to rooting/flashing custom rom, not vise versa :p

Does your mate need root? Would he know what to do with it?

Best stock rooted is wanamlite

Flashing a stock ROM is very simple and is detailed all over XDA forums and I cannot be arsed to type it all out, google is your friend. ;)

Hmm well my i9300 is 2 yrs old in November and I was thinking of keeping it on a Sim only and putting on my own OS, but after reading a few pages of this thread I still haven't a clue what to do.

Might just leave it on whatever it's running ATM.

Needing a battery recommendation for Galaxy S3, mate at work bought one from the bay and seems to get 24hrs now with it. However he could not tell me where from apart from it being about 7 quid. Any known good ones ?

I've used both the official 3000mAh and a dodgy 6000mAh one. The 6000mAh started off strong, but eventually went downhill to the point now it holds less charge than the 3000mAh one. Its also hugely bulky compared to the extended one, massively compared to the standard battery. The 6000, might be decent for the short term, but now i use a combination of the 3000 and a 12000mAh power bank i carry around.

managed to get a code off ebay cheap in the end

all unlocked now

has anybody managed to do a repair on the glass only ?

i see the kits on ebay or you can send it away for 25 pounds and they fix it

This is annoying me, I'm on temasek v148 and chrome only seems to open in this expandable style window which I don't want. I thought it was hover doing it, but that is all disabled. Here is what it looks like. ive deleted the app data. reinstalled it. Same story. i cant find where the component is.

Any ideas?

Found out its a problem with the latest chrome beta update. Regular chrome is fine. Roll on next update.

Just picked up a S3 which was sold as unbranded.

It seems it was Vodafone branded though. Not too bad but a few apps and things like undeletable entries for Vodafone WiFi and what not.

I installed the latest UK stock ROM I could find (I9300XXUGMK6_I9300OXAGMK6_BTU) which was dated end of last year whereas the latest Vodafone one was dated only a month or so ago (I9300XXUGNH4_I9300VFGGNH2_VOD)

Does anybody know what the latest Official Unbranded ROM is? Will the Vodafone one be more up to date or will it just be them tweaking their own stuff?
