***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Rather than try and trawl through 624 pages, can someone tell me what the best KitKat ROM for the i9300 is currently? I've just moved from the stock 4.3 (reallllllllly slow!) onto Fusion 4.4 but that is a bit buggy for my liking.

Any tips, folks?

SlimKat if you want stability
Temasek if you want features with a little crash here and there but mostly stable.

See my SIG for details of Temasek ROM.

All of you using Temasek ROM, word from his Twitter feed, Do NOT USE v118 there is a massive bug in it that is very aggressively killing off all background tasks, including things like sync and alarms!

Ott ooh. I flashed 118 today. I'll double up on alarms just in case. See no problem so far though.

I did got back to cm a while ago when temasek ROM had loads of memory leaks. I just missed all the customisables. It was missing a whole bunch compared. Has it improved much. It just annoyed me the recent panel clear all button couldn't be moved.

Just switched over to Paranoid Android latest ROM (4.4.5), I have been getting more and more system UI crashes with Temasek so bit the bullet and moved over. Porbably going to ROM hop for a while before finding the one I like best, I miss Temaseks ROM already though :(

Well it looks like my S3 has died, constant boot loops and random restarts, 2 years is up in February so will have to get it replaced before then, downgraded to the wife's old s2 :(

S3 has two year warranty AFAIK. So unless you have really messed with it then Samsung should repair.

Im passing on my rooted S3 to my brother.
What would be the best way to do it?

Currently running ArchiDroid/CM 11-20140712 version.

Would it be best to revert it to stock rom?
He wouldn't know how to update the rom when updates become available.
I dont want him suffering from a bug due to the custom ROM and would prefer he customizes it himself via stock rom.

Back to stock is probably the best option then or go with Paranoid Android as the OTA they have implimented will download and install the update for him via a boot script.

Yeah RMA request is being processed, efs has become corrupt and I don't think I have a backup :( not had a chance to look yet.

Turns out I did not need my efs backup after all. The differences between efs v1 and v2 are mainly that version of android older than 4.3 cannot read efs v2 so I installed stock 4.3 and ohone is working fine again other than the ever present bootloops becaus of over heating. So its still goinf back to samsung for a repair!!

Got a strange problem

The wife some how drop the phone down the loo (yes the loo).

Its had the rice treatment, and has been working fine for about 24H. Now the screen will not respond. Buttons work, but not the touch screen.

And clues.

TIA

Sounds like normal water damage. pull the battery and look at the little blue/red square looks like a QR code on the bottom right of the battery bay if its blue you can send it to Samsung without an issue if its red then they will say water damage here's the bill.

Other wise, take it to bits (and I mean every little screw, its easy to be fair), then place the parts in a sealed bag of rice for 3 days minimum. Clean the PCB's with some Flux cleaner/PCB cleaner leave to dry then reassemble crossing your fingers and toes that its not completely dead!
