***The Official Samsung Galaxy S III Thread***

Beginning to think that Samsung are intentionally leaking, or at least not stopping them leaking, knowing they will get into the hands of XDA Dev people who can bug test them better than their own guys :p

Well they did that with ICS and then released the update with brightness slider and so on on various phones like S2/S3

They know it's only way they will get it tested properly. :p

I suspect a firmware builder has been given permission to do it in part. It's sort of like friendly user testing except the user can be anyone who at least knows how to use a firmware flasher so in part the person is probably technical enough to be able to articulate bugs found etc...

Another new JB leak this morning which seems to have fixed a lot of the issues people have been having, looks like we're very very close.

I'm sure this has been answered many times. All I use Kies for is backing up my phone (i.e. in case it dies and I want to restore it "as is").

It's rubbish. I don't use it to sync as my contacts are sync'ed with the cloud, as are my diaries. All documents, music and files are kept on the external SD Card. I don't synch emails with Outlook or Tasks - I download them independently and leave a copy on the server anyway.

There must be an easier way of backing up your phone?! Or at least better software...

If you're rooted you can use CWM to just do a full image backup so if anything goes wrong you just restore that and it's exactly as it was.

I've no idea what rooting is, but I'll try and find out tonight and I'll see about this cwm thing. Backup image sounds good!

FF - Use Titanium Backup to backup your phone. I have mine setup to do it once per week which it saves to the SD card (not the phone memory) in case anything happens.

If my phone b0rks then I can get a new S3 and just restore the backup to get started again.

I have this set up to run nightly and upload the backup to my dropbox as well.

Hi, just bought the white model 32GB BNIB sim free with warranty for £350.

Good price or a bit too much considering the new iphone 5s coming out soon?

350 is a steal. Iphone5 or whatever apple release shouldn't effect the SGS3 price but in the eyes of silly people who think anythink newer released is better.

So, what's bugging me right now is this:

Standard screen mode quite clearly over-saturates the colours. This looks pretty good for the home-screen, icons, menus, etc., and it allows you to turn the brightness down and still have a vibrant-looking display. However, it looks awful for (most) video and gives a really inaccurate representation of photos.

Natural screen mode gives a much more faithful reproduction of colour in photos so you can see more reliably how they actually look, and it looks far better and, yes, more natural for video. However, the home-screen, menus, icons and so on (basically everything except photos and video) look pretty markedly washed-out, even with the brightness increased.

I've had the screen set to natural for a few days now, because I watch a fair bit of video on it and standard mode was horrible for colour reproduction, but I can't stop noticing how dull and, well, a bit crappy everything else looks.

Is there any solution? Any way to manually set the colour reproduction? (Ideally a mode somewhere between standard and natural would be good). Or any way to get a video player to adapt to standard mode so it doesn't show horribly over-saturated colours? Custom ROMs? Anything?

You probably want to untick auto adjust screen tone in Display settings as I bet that messes it about. I presume you tried the 3 colour modes within the video player settings itself but if not, there are "normal warm cold" options there, i don't know how they relate to the screen move option though to be honest.

I just like shiny stuff so i leave it on default.
