**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S10 Family Thread ****

What would people consider the better deal of these two?

Samsung S10 128gb

£125 up front
£37 a month
24 month contract

Samsung S10e 128gb
EE

£85 up front
£36 a month

It seems to be a battle of better mobile vs better network provider.
If your finances allow buy SIM free and get a SIM only alongside, cheaper than either option in the long run.

S10e turned up today and i just feels/looks night and day over the Pixel 3.

Don't get me wrong, the Pixel 3 is a good phone, it's just plagued with so many issues.

The software deserves better hardware!

The wide angle lens and camera dynamic range is just stunning on this really. Okay it's not a low light beast like the P30 Pro, but daylight shots come out superbly. A step above the S8+ for sure.

is there lens correction being applied on the image mate? it just looks distorted to me and cant figure out if its angle image is taken at or something else, does it look better "live" as it doesn't look that great to me.

It's taken with an fov over 120 degrees, it will always look stretched slightly at the edges even with ultra wide lens correction turned on which does correction to the most extent as straight lines remain straight whereas with it off they are curved.

There is no other way to optically capture such a wide field of view without this quirk of an ultra wide lens.

To my eyes it's excellent however (for a phone), but I am used to working with all lens types on DSLRs!

I've had the LG phones since they started using wide angle lenses and it's amazing how much better current generation phones are that use them.

yep I realize what uwl looks like but I have only used it on dslrs myself-well and slrs
tbh it could just be me expecting more from the hype it just doesn't look great to me, granted better than phones used to be but still crap compared to dslr,s or quality mirrorless

Not quite sure what you were expecting really given the optics and sensor size in that case :p
It's in orders of magnitude smaller on both fronts! For what's on offer, it's excellent in my view and perfectly viable option (along with the other latest models with UWA lenses like the Mate 20 Pro, P30 Pro, LG G8) as a usable wide angle camera for those chance shots that don't otherwise get taken because you haven't got the d/slr/mirrorless on you at the time because it's an extra thing to carry around.

i get your point but, i just wouldn't bother talking the shot with that quality or at least i wouldn't keep that shot. size wise i just carryed two medium format cameras on a walk up 3 over 800 metre peaks so its a non issue really

Again, I'm not seeing the such poor quality you are referring to. It's perfectly usable for online sharing, as are most shots where the subject matter is still interesting, exposed well enough etc regardless of the technical characteristics of the tool used to capture the image (as long as it's not downright terrible like early iterations of ultra wide lenses were just like normal lenses back in the early smartphone days).

Bresson will be turning in his grave!

By default volume synchronisation is turned on for bluetooth audio devices, so when you adjust volume on either, it syncs with the other. You can turn it on again if it's off for whatever reason. t least it was on by default when I paired the JayBird X3s.

Anyone else notice the outline of the finger print reader against a white background in direct sunlight on your S10's?

If a couple of people could check please, that would be fab. It appears that some people have reported this online and Samsung has said to reduce the screen brightness to solve the problem. However, that isn't really a solution and I'm wondering whether it could be an early batch issue as it doesn't seem common on here or another forum I use and we've had some decent sunny days recently.

I thought that too but it is the case with my Bose headphones also - I can turn the volume on the phone to full, and then turn it up even further from the Bose themselves (or back down again) and that doesn't bring up the volume pop-up on the phone.

Apparently there is an update being pushed that improves the fingerprint reader. Some are saying it now works instantly every time.

It's all your fault anyway..... For not going gestures :p
I can't seem to get used to that. :(

Isn't this the Samsung anti-burn in software. All permanent UI elements move around a few pixels to stop burn in.

Ah, that makes sense.

If you delete your finger, remove the screen protector and re-add it - its lighting fast and doesn't require much pressure.
