**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S20 Family Thread ****

Mine lives at home on WiFi all day(with5g off) and on 120mhz I'll get around 4.5hrs screen on time (which incidentally is exactly the same as what the reviews reported). Always find it amazing people here manage to double these numbers...!

Are you playing Genshin Impact all day or something? :)

My use is mainly Samsung Internet, Reddit and bits and bobs apps like Hue, Whatsapp, Gmail, banking. In the evening, I might play a few non-taxing games for an hour or so.

The sheer weight of the iPhone Pro Max adds that premium factor however when watching videos in landscape mode for more than 15mins I can say my wrists appreciate the lighter weight of the FE!

I'm vaguely considering a 2nd hand iPhone 11 Pro or a 12 Mini. I swore I wouldn't get a 12 Pro this year because of 60hz, but the way I see it, the 12 Mini is a different device entirely :p

Shame I just took out a year's subscription to Play Pass at £30 (a service which is, incidentally, far and away better than Apple Arcade.)

Is that off a full 100-0% charge or your daily stats i.e. from bed to bed?

I wasn't doing anything in particular. On most days I'd say I would get 8.5-9 hours SoT, based on extrapolation of battery percent when I go to bed (because I don't use my phone that much!). Standby is what skews the figures - if you take the phone to work and it sits for 8 hours hunting masts, or bouncing between them on your commute, the battery will dribble away and you might end up on 75% at the end of the day and with not much more than an hour's screen time. Then it would be tempting to think "hang on, the battery is rubbish", but if you sat at home all day on your phone, the battery has a much easier life and lasts much longer.

I have 5G turned off as well. Maybe it makes a difference.
Turning the 5g off.. see if that makes a lotnof difference for me

:D

S2,S5,S7,S10 (the S10 was the worst for battery)

Honest I'm not a fanboy, I just like OLED displays & expandable storage :D

LOL... just be grateful you didn't own the original Galaxy S. Nice idea, terrible execution, worst phone I've owned by a country mile! I had an S2 but I don't particularly remember the battery life being one of its outstanding features, but that's going back a few years now innit! :D

Oh yeah, 5G is a definite. I was mainly debating over the RAM and memory, since the UK gets the low tier 5G spec.
Surely the storage argument is moot since you can add an sd card?
As for the ram I moved from a 7T Pro which had 8gb and I honestly believe the 6gb FE manages that ram so much better, according to the device care widget I rarely exceed 4gb.
I also saw a YouTube video comparing the FE and the S20+ with both performing identically in terms of speed with the S20+ just marginally pulling ahead in terms of reloading old background apps but the difference is negligible and you'd need to have close to 20 apps open to even notice.

Was the video comparing 2x Snapdragon models, or the S20FE v Exynos S20+ ?

So the S20FE is almost certainly a faster phone than any other phone made by Samsung for the UK market. It must be the best phone they’ve sold in the UK for years. As a lifelong Pixel owner, I’m quite tempted to switch, as the Pixel’s have been disappointing year after year and while the Pixel 5 has many things going for it, it also seems like a significantly less premium product than it was. Even the admittedly extremely likeable Pixel OS isn’t really enough to save it this time around.

Just as a thing to watch for with the S20 FE phone - there are problems with the touchscreen on some regions. If you search for S20 FE touchscreen then it can be seen that Samsung have issued 3 software updates but not all the problems are solved. I bought a UK phone and returned it as the screen does not respond to swiping and thinks you are tapping instead, the keyboard and 3rd party keyboard would not always recognize what you try to type. It was a shame as it was lovely otherwise, I have now bought a Xiaomi MI 10t lite 5g for £299 and for me it does everything the FE did but much cheaper.
