**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S20 Family Thread ****

Think my FE touch screen issues are getting worse.
More and more mistakes in typing appearing. Getting close to a return under warranty
I wish you the best of luck with that!
I spent a week on email/live chat with Samsung Support who kept saying they needed to see my FE and repair it if necessary - despite the fact it had already been away for 8 days at the start of December for a repair that fixed nothing.
I pushed them and highlighted that (as someone else kindly pointed out on here) under UK Consumer Rights I am obliged to offer the company at least one attempt at a repair before requesting a refund. They eventually changed tone however said that I needed to contact the Samsung online store for a return, or even a replacement.
So cue another couple of days emailing where the store used the exact same line in each of their replies that I should contact their service centre for a repair! It’s like they don’t even read the emails as I had explicitly stated I already had one repair which was of no use, even quoting the repair reference.

I was so annoyed with the them! Definitely has made me think twice about ever buying Samsung devices in the future.

Now I know I could have dug my heels in further and even possibly gone through my payment method for a chargeback but in the end I got a buyer for the phone which was fortunately a work colleague who needed something ASAP and wasn’t bothered about the potential issues as they really only appear when gaming - plus should anything go wrong they know where I am should they need the warranty.

I cut my losses and learned a lesson!

Thanks.
It isn't a crippling issue (luckily I don't game on it) but it is very annoying.
I'm not sure if that's a good or bad thing. As it makes going through warranty claim a pain.

I'll stick with it for a while, if it gets worse I'll try the warranty. It's just such a pain. That's main reason. If it was any other piece of hardware I'd have already started the process.

Feels like a design flaw rather than a fault. So getting a new one won't solve it

Something went wrong...

If it's wireless then it's slipped off the charger, if not then something sounds like it broke?

Might be worth a reboot, that's my go to when something weird happens and then I remember I haven't switched it off in 3 months :)

Thanks. I wondered if there some fancy recharge thing that Samsung do to protect/extend the battery life. It was still charging but instead of being 100%, said 47 mins till full at 56%. I disconnected it and plugged it back in about 10 mins later but it was the same.

Is there a way to specify the charge period (2300 > 0700) so it manages how quickly it does it itself?

You can change when it does fast wireless to manage the fans on the wireless chargers but I think thats it. Otherwise the charger itself (assuming you're using a samsung one) knows not to keep fast charging.

That said, battery conditioning with lithium ion batteries is a myth so I wouldn't worry about it.

Oh that's good to know, thanks.
Will see how tonight goes but yes, I was using the Samsung charger.
Oddly, I charged it yesterday when I got it and it charged without about 45 mins to 100%. I'm guessing that overnight charging Samsung is doing something to not leave it running all night, IDK to be honest, I've never had a phone that was...well, this smart about charging.

Picking up my S20 FE 5G on Tuesday. Not generally a fan of expensive mobiles TBH (main use is messaging/mobile internet) and I still had an S2 mini from summer 2012 upto summer 2017 when it finally died so I got a Huawei Y6II as a cheap smartphone I could get out here in Saudi (as an emergency replacement) which has lasted the past 3 years OK I suppose but now the screens playing up (mis-clicking, not clicking, 2-3 sec pauses), the BT fails constantly, the screen is pitted, App updates don't sync correctly so I can have upto 14 apps all needing to update before I manually do it, real-time apps not keeping in touch with servers (FB messenger, GMail etc can take upto 4 hours to pass a message) etc so it's time for an upgrade again.

Picked the S20 FE for a mix of it's price (£460), battery life and that it's a brand I've used before with full Play store, as opposed to the many Chinese makes that are priced similarly. Hopefully it's not blighted by some the issues I've read of in here!

Picking up my S20 FE 5G on Tuesday.

So spent a few days with it - It's far faster than my old Huawei Y6II (durr :D) but that far older phone had a few features that I miss already. As I'm not a phone-fan I haven't done the "get a new phone every year" thing most folks have so this is a huge jump in ability for me rather than the small incremental steps others would be used to so the hundreds of settings, choices and new tech has meant I've had to spend about 8hrs on Google finding out what every settings does.

So the features I miss from my old phone -

1. It had a notification LED so if I'd put the phone down (screen off) to do something and got a text/whatsapp etc whilst I was away, I could instantly see that I had a notification and the colour told me what app had it before I picked up the phone - the S20 FE doesn't have this.

2. The notification area icons are absolutely tiny and can't be increased in size with any "built in" settings (checked Google, lots of complaints). I can read the text (battery %, time etc) but the alarm, phone signal icons are way too small.

3. Mine is dual Sim (one Saudi and one UK) and on the older phone text messages had a small "Sim number" next to them so you knew which sim the text message was sent to, so if for example "Brian from work" texted me I can't tell if he texted my UK number or my Saudi number so I don't know which Sim to use to reply back to him.

4. In a similar vane, I could edit my Phone Contacts list so that each entry had a symbol next to it telling you where it was stored - Sim 1or 2, Phone memory etc so again if I have "Brian from work" who has given me both his UK number (stored on my UK Sim) and his Saudi number (stored on my Saudi Sim) but now I can't tell which entry is linked to which Sim until I open each contact to find out. What I've had to do in the mean-time is edit every entry to add "UK....." or "Saudi....." to the start of each name so my Contacts list (and therefore my text message list) tells me which Sim I have to use to talk to the person, just to avoid any UK Sim talking to Saudi Sim roaming charges!

Hi, can anyone help me remove a voicemail alert in notification bar. There's no voicemail as I've gone through Sky voicemail menus. I've cleared cache and data in the Phone app settings like Google says but I still have this annoying notification I can't get rid of. Any ideas?

Just had my Android 11 update drop on my new S20 FE. I'll install it later but I hope it doesn't mess around with my settings too much, took ages to set the phone up how I like!

*EDIT* - Went painlessly, changed a few visual things but nothing which made my usage any worse than before (App folders now show only 3 icons across instead of 4 etc).

Well, I'm happy to report I made the decision to upgrade my UK galaxy s20 ultra(512) to the new Samsung galaxy s21 ultra(512) I just preordered it to see if was going to be an upgrade, If it wasn't I was going to send it back. All I can say is wow, it is definitely an upgrade. battery life is so much better. the screen. max screen res with the new adaptive refresh. is a game-changer. I must admit I never had problems with the fingerprint sensor but on the 21 ultra it is so much better. bigger more responsive. The whole phone is a lot smoother more responsive I guess it seems faster overall. Because I left it so late I could only get the silver in the 512 model, i personly do not like it i would have much prefered the black. but as other people have said its in a case anyhow and I never look at the back. If anyone is thinking of upgrading i feel it is definitely worth it(for my usage ect anyhow)
