Looks to me like there's different embargo dates, you'll get proper reviews of the std and plus 1000%

Samsung likely went after spacing them out

Everyone has different requirements but I generally sit with my phone resting on the little finger of my right hand. My phone is a Note 10+ and it's already fairly heavy so I like to know the weight of a phone. Reviewers who comment on the overall and top heavy nature of the S20 Ultra are helping me out.

I'm OK with review info like that too. Although since I typically lift heavy objects, I'm not worried about the phone unless it weighs 35KG, 25KG is fine for daily use if I had to, but not 35KG. :)

I'm also one of those people who, if I spend a grand or more on a phone, want others to know that I've done so. I like nice things and everyone has something that draws them to a model of phone. For others it's knowing they got a bargain £300 Chinese phone. If I spend 1200 quid on a phone, I want the manufacturer to put in the effort. The S20 Ultra grey back in particular is really poor and again I want that highlighted in reviews. It might not bother everyone, but it should be mentioned.

Edit - to be clear, I will not be buying an S20 Ultra, but the points I've made are still relevant.

It's cool, it's your opinion, we're all allowed our own :) . But I once again highlight, that on a truly fair review, you can't honestly ding that (I don't like the colour, too basic, not fashionable enough) as an actual negative (and I pulled that from a review I read online, so I wasn't referring to anyone here unless that review was by you :p). Something to be on the look out for, sure for the fashion or image conscious. But as an actual negative? There's a line I draw for fair review, and something like that where points are deducted is where it goes across that line. It really should be in a closing thoughts segment and things you should know and consider, rather than "Negative". Especially since, when you think about it, just as there are people who like to use their phone to be viewed by others. There are others who wouldn't mind it being more discrete. So that's why I look at some reviews and wonder why they put certain stuff there other than some irrational hate of it (and hence unsuitable and unneeded in the review).

Where are you? I find VF to be hot garbage a lot of the time.. Catching a train in anything like rush hour London means I have a phantom signal, I can see it but I can't do anything with it. Driving means frequent drop outs etc etc.

Nothing is foolproof mind, it's a trick for getting what works for you.. for some genius reason my office literally only has Vodafone so I'm kinda stuck.

Although to be fair at home it works great, I've suddenly started getting upwards of 150mb on 4g+ so I've stopped using my home wifi lol.

In London.

to be fair their network is good. Didn't have any issues from that point of view. Slightly patchy. have been with them for years.

Why O2 then? just cost cutting exercise or is their SLA a better proposition for you?

Looking at this, Voda absolutely blows all the other providers out of the water. O2's performance was abysmal which is really annoying because right now, all the good deals are on O2 and not Voda!

Negotiated contract through an intermediary. They're paying off our remaining voda contracts and then our monthly should be around 1/3 less. Main reason for leaving voda is we had a ridiculous falling out with them over roaming charges in Russia earlier this year and they were totally unwilling to explain / cooperate etc. Approx 8k of fees. Voda treat small business of our size as individual contracts. 02 will do a single business contract. I've been on vodafone black for years as have some of my colleagues, spending huge amounts and they just CBA to work with you.

Selfishly at home (and I work from home much of time) i am in a voda black spot. Looks like 02 is better here, but we will see.

Date from EE now 24th March, plenty of time for buyers remorse to kick in

As far as review embargos go, as far as I'm aware there was no embargo or NDA on reviewers - I think we're seeing Ultra reviews first because reviewers are competing for clicks/views - they need to release first otherwise they'll miss the window.

If there was no embargo there'd surely be an enterprising reviewer who could knock out a couple of videos about both the Ultra and the other two in the series before now. Details on the S20 and S20+ are thin on the ground.

Maybe Samsung haven't given review units of the non Ultra yet, which is a different type of embargo I guess :p

My expected delivery is 10th March for S20+

I've purchased a S20 ultra directly from Samsung, they did the usual thing of taking payment but not actually claiming it from the account, my available balance was showing a balance including the price of the phone again a couple of weeks ago, yesterday Samsung appear to have taken the whole amount out of my account.
I wounder if the phone will start shipping earlier than the 8th of March as they had said previously.

Same happened on mine, it appeared as a pending transaction in the app for a couple of days after I pre-ordered and then disappeared. Mine hasnt come back yet though

I'm looking at the paperwork I have from CPW to see if I can get out of the crappy contract within the 14 days despite what they told me.

The piece of paper actually with my signature has both a CPW logo and Vodafone logo on it and is titled "Order form for Vodafone". My signature is under the "customer agreement" section and the top says "this order is subject to Vodafone's standard terms and conditions" which I believe includes the cooling off period and ability to cancel within that, as the Vodafone guy told me.

But I think I'm going to have to argue it with CPW to return the upgrade plan as they initially told me I can't change my mind as I'm buying through a third party.

But with a bit of luck, the actual thing I've signed appears to be Vodafone terms and conditions, not CPW ones.

Might pop in the CPW store tomorrow and see what they say.
Managed to get my new additional Vodafone line cancelled and the CPW-bought upgrade on the initial plan rolled back (spoke to Vodafone in the end, not CPW and I didn't even mention it was bought through CPW - simple)

Easier than I thought.

Made a thread here for some advice on a new plan to stop clogging this thread with non-S20 related chat.

Not bad, considering it's running with more power hungry stuff, and was set to double the refresh rate of nearly everything else bar the Pixel, the S20 Ultra still went over the 6 hour mark there. Liking it more and more, although I haven't quite decided to stay with current telecoms provider (if they can't offer a competitive deal on the S20 Ultra) or finally move after 16 years with them. Decisions, decisions...

Yeah ultra fast charging is making battery life less of an issue these days. If I have a heavy battery day I just pop the phone on charge for 30 mins when I get in from work and then no issues for the evening.

Don't quote me on it, I'm more looking for confirmation...

Am I correct in saying the S20 supports a certain wattage charger but doesn't come with that in the box? I may be wrong and need to check into it. But I think I saw this on a review video... That the box charger won't charge the phone at the max speed it's capable of.

Ultra supports 45w charging but comes with a 25w charger. However some tests have been done to compare the speeds and it is barely any different so is not worth paying extra for a 45w charger anyway
