**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S21 Family Thread ****

Got mine first thing this morning after having an SD note 20 ultra and then Pixel 5.

Camera on this is brilliant, appear to have fixed the fuzzy/soft images on note 20 and S20, really crisp and accurate colours.

.
Thats good to hear re the soft images - do you still have the pixel 5? Would be interested to see some comparison shots between the two!

Some of the Samsung apps aren't bad to be fair. In fact dare I say it, while I'm waiting for my ultra, I've been using Samsung internet, and while it's perhaps not the best looking browser, it's actually otherwise better than Chrome in a lot of ways (it supports ad blockers for starters, and a genuine dark mode).
Isn’t Samsung internet renowned as one of the best web browsers on Android?
I used it exclusively when I had my Samsung(s). The only downside I had was cross platform syncing á la Chrome but there are ways round it.

Seeing everyone get theirs today makes me sort of wish I bought one of the standard colours.

Although max 4 weeks isn't that bad considering on average a phone lasts me 2 years and I use it a fair bit, may as well go for one of the more unique colours.

This is my thinking haha - I suggested / swayed a couple of people to buy S21 Ultra, they ordered black and got theirs today. I ordered phantom navy before them and haven't got mine haha.

Hopefully worth the wait :D

I was tempted by the black and even more so after watching Samsung's video on what they claim to have gone through in designing it. But then I watched/read a few reviews that suggested the black, albeit a very nice black, wasn't quite 'special' enough, 'ultra' enough. Each to their own and I don't for a minute think the black would have been a mistake, or want to say other people's choices are wrong, but my hope is the Titanium will look a little more special. Plus it'll be covered in a case anyway. :D Speaking of which, time to go through this thread again and get some ideas...

I was tempted by the navy too.

Anyone had a problem with their ee sim and 5G, I've been on a 5G contract for around 10 months, the last six I've had constant 5G at home, I've just swapped the sim to my S21 Ultra and only have VoLTE, mobile networks is set to 2,3,4,5G auto.

Not sure whether to order the S21 Ultra 256GB/8GB version or 512GB/12GB version, which are most people going for out of these?

is it not 256/12 and 512/16gb??

Personally 256 is more than enough for me - 100gb currently used on my op7 pro storage wise and that's a 256gb phone.

I would have like the extra RAM. Not because I think I'd need it. But because more is better! But the price jump from 256/12 to 512/16 was just a little too rich for me. So I stuck with 256/12, mainly due to the fear of all the photos I'll be taking with it.

After selling my iphone 12 pro max 2 weeks ago and using my spare iphone se 2016 for 2 weeks, I really can't wait to get my hands on the s21 ultra on friday!! got it from john lewis with 2 year guarantee!!

I may have missed it, but how come you swapped? I was actually thinking of the iPhone 12 Pro Max. I've never had an iPhone and really liked the look of LIDAR as a mate of mine does some really cool AR stuff with it.

Sorry yes, what will be the advantages going forward of having 16GB of system memory over 12GB?
I'd hazard a guess that 90% of people won't even notice the extra RAM. This is also coming from someone who got the 512/16 model too.

More RAM would mean switching apps would be faster as it doesn't have to close them down as often. Again, whether you notice is a different question.

Well for me I have always gone back and forth between ios and android but the last time I did it I actually really regretted it as Samsung really has got everything I need from an operating system now, I love the split screen multitasking, and having had a fold 2 I loved the 120hz display, going back was a major downgrade. Having a mac myself there are a few benefits to having an iphone though like being able to unlock it with an apple watch, but again I prefer the samsung watch 3 I have, I can't wait for my S21 to arrive tomorrow, just got tracking info!

Is anyone able to install Amazon prime now on their s21 ultra?
I can't find it in the playstore

[Edit] Sorry, nevermind. I downloaded the Amazon app store and was able to install it from there

[Edit] FYI there's a software update available for the phone too

Sold that, only having done limited testing I would say the standard photos have more detail then a pixel, unusually for Samsung the colours are quite realistic .

I like also for selfies (not that I take many), you can choose to turn of any beautification, it ask you if you want natural or vibrant.

Portrait is good but maybe the pixel still edges it , impressed they sorted out the auto focus issues that the S20 had. Long range 3 and 10x optical lenses are brilliant.

Battery is going down faster then my Note 20 Ultra Snap dragon but it still needs to optimise and settle down, time will tell.

I'm same, last iPhone I had was iPhone 7. Previously had 6, 5S, 4, 3GS, 3G and 2G... Then a bunch of Andriod phones in-between.

I really like iPhone and iOS but a 2 things make them a complete no go option for me..

- FaceID, I've tried it and it's just nothing compared to a fingerprint scanner.. Especially in current times (mask).

- No high refresh rate 120hz.

If they address both of those, plus make that horrendous notch smaller I'd consider them again tbh.

Oh, also some of the stuff like the way Andriod does notifications or YouTube Van... Are cherry on top.

Yes totally, I really love secure folder as well on Samsung devices, I also really love the latest implementation of Dex, and also the tight integration with microsoft as I am an office 365 user for work so have 1tb drive so I could knock apple icloud on the head saving me 6.99 a month!
