**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S22 Family Thread ****

I suspect Expert Raw will only support the + and Ultra models as the rep on a post stated only the top models will be supported which is a shame, but at least it's not limited to just the Ultra line of one model. S22 can do 16 bit RAW capture, that's pretty huge so I am hyped about checking out what that app will be able to do with the RAW images and also what I can do with those files in Lightroom. My walkabout street photography camera might just only be the phone from here on :p

65w for what when the phone is only 45w?

Anyone know what's the best 3rd party charger to get that will charge the S22U at the max 45w? I'm assuming my 65w OnePlus charger will not.

Look on your OnePlus charger, it should say if it supports PPS. The one with my OnePlus 9 Pro supports PPS @ 45W

That Samsung 65W charger is good for an all in one that will service laptops too. But it'll be expensive.

If it does not, then just buy that Spigen one linked earlier. It is PPS 45w and will do the job perfectly and only costs £20.

People need to look at it from a different standpoint. the S21 has had a year or so of steady updates that has improved everything about it since launch, just like the S20 did before it. The S22 is already slightly better in tests before it's launched and reviewers have been sent them without any embargo etc which is a good thing and certainly not what you normally see.

Given that the S22 series is slightly better than the S21 so close to launch only highlights that just like the S20 and 21, several months from now it can only get better still.

I'm looking forward to seeing what this new Exynos 2200 is able to achieve for power draw and the camera processing as the S20's Exynos has been really really good for me since going to Android 12. Both SD and Exynos are new chipsets too, so I guess it's kind of expected that updates will bring new features and refinements as time goes on.

Don't forget 4 years of major Android updates is promised.

Early review units with no embargo, 4 years of updates... I think Samsung are leaning on confidence here for a reason.

Definitely this is a clear show of strength, I mean I look at my Note 10+ 5G and there was very few reasons to upgrade, with each update the phone just got better and feels awesome, the performance of the chip at 50% of the S22U was also more than enough, I haven't found it wanting anywhere and I predominantly use it multitasking in Dex mode, the only thing they couldn't upgrade with the OTA is the camera hardware, the main reason I thought I'd jump on this.

Just checked and yes it says PPS up to 45W, perfect. Thanks. Also thanks @mrk

That green Parallax case you mentioned for £14 looks good, think I will get it too for when out and about. Other times will use the Sammy clear case with stand at £16.

After showing a pic of all 7 colours to the wife she straight away picked out the green as the best colour, so as I was on the fence about it cos of the rails, think I will cancel my sky blue order and get green instead after all.

I'm going to backk up to pc and a USB dingle + one drive and format before picking up. Really wish I had been able to order online so easy to transfer then send phone off few days later for the trade. Also doing via a store leaves me with no phone if I change my mind later

don't think they are expecting you to hand in your phone right there and then as the transfer process can take hours, they value your trade-in and then it can be send off to Samsung as with the online option. The only value of going in store for me is the Amex offer of £250 cashback in addition to the Samsung trade in offer

Think I would jump for this if I could get the 10% discount on the Samsung site. Would anyone have a spare or is ebay the best shout?

I've been using the RAW app for a couple of months on my 21Ultra. It's not released officially but works a treat. In fact it gives amazing shots from whichever lens you choose to use.

That's what the sales assistant told me. They have already given me the value of my trade in and I've fully paid for the S22U and already got my AMEX cashback. Also it's not £250, it's 10% off when you spend £500 or more.

hmm they never gave me a trade in value said it can be done at the collection only. tbh if it is too much hassle with them in store I won't bother as I don't want to be sitting around waiting and I prefer to check my old phone against new incase something is missed from transfer process

FYI that 10% cashback on your Amex is valid "once per card up to £250".

So if anyone was thinking about splurging on a new phone and TV this year, consider whether you want to whack both on the card at the same time.
