**** The Official Samsung Galaxy S23 Family Thread ****

I've gone with a Spigen Neo Hybrid Case, will likely order a clear case further down the line.
That was always my go to case
I got Spigen Ultra Hybrid OneTap Ring Case, the magnet on it seems strong but will see how it goes when using it on the car mount.

Think I'll go with their Clear Ultra Hybrid this time, don't need a magnet mount

I was peeping out of my curtains the other day

mrk could you try this

Go to gallery > settings > about then tap version 5 or more times ( had to use spen big fingers ) . This opens labs options in settings for gallery tweaks ... worked on my s22u a while back wanted to know if still working

Didn't know this was a thing, tried it and yep labs available!

Weird question, did you have to present ID upon receipt? I see it says it on DPD but I'm not in, my mother-in-law is though.

Nope didn't have to here.

Excellent. Thanks for that. That explains the high WhatsApp usage. That is impressive.

I've always loved Samsung but the last 2 or 3 years I've stayed away. Boring same design, bad battery and mediocre camera. Apart from the same old design they've fixed a lot of things. Gone are the days of touchwiz which everyone hated too.

The cameras have always been good to be fair, since the S10 series the cameras were a marked improvement over anything else out there, The Good Lock modules and now Cam,era Assistant as part of that are where Samsung devs seem to take on requests from users and use Good Lock as a playground to add new features.

Touchwiz is ancient news thankfully :D

people what is the chepest accessory add on you can do to get the extra 10% off?
Wait a sec, you could get a cheap accessory with an order and get 10% off?! So that's what the USB drive was all about earlier? I just thought people suddenly loved USB stick lol.

Also, no case here, S22 Ultra had no case, damn thing is big enough as it is!

Initial impressions.

Feels nicer in the hand than the S21 does
A lot smoother overall, less stutter/jerky scrolling in well known apps (Twitter!)
Apps install quick from the store
Display looks better than the S21.

Cannot recommend the Ringke Air Case, its a very tight fit and collides with the screen protector causing it to lift. So that will be returned to Amazon.

My S22 Ultra was fitted with Torras clear case (nicely shows custom colours), which was perfect. I've just got the same case for the S23 Ultra and it's spot on. So highly recommended.

As my decision to go with Graphite looks like meaning I have to wait an extra week for my device, I now have to get a clear case so this is helpful. What screen protector have you gone with?

Those official screen protectors have proper annoyed me

I've used Apiker and amfilm before a fair few times, same method of install and never had an issue.

The Samsung one just seems more of a mess.

First one. Few specks of dust underneath, even though I've wiped all the work surface down and cleaned the screen with the wipe/used the sticker. Then once it's down there's no easy way to lift it to attempt to remove the dust.

Removed and tried the second. Same issue. Speck of dust in a different spot. I've left this one of for the time being, but also noticed it's a bit off/wonky.

So that's effectively two protectors wasted. FFS.

Yah, it was a bizarre offer that took 10% off the actual phone and accessory. I ended up getting a screen protector which I might actually pop on.

Which case are you using ? looks good, does it offer good protection ?

This one: Link

Gotta say, it fits great, seems to offer good protection (not drop tested it) and allows for easy cleaning/ dusting around the lenses without it being a dust magnet itself. And in my case also doesn't interfere with the glass screen protector.
I struggle to get on with the plastic protectors, so it's great there's a full glue glass protector now.

I still had a Samsung S22 Ultra screen protector left so I installed that and it works fine, the jig was a tad tight though as the S23 ultra is a tad wider.

Overall I am pleased with the S23 Ultra so far, this could even be a keeper!

I sent the trade in via special delivery this time as last trade in it took ages for them to identify my phone and accept, squeaky bum time!

I bought the Samsung silicone case with strap, it's OK to be fair but I will still keep an eye out for the case sales, I got an S22 Ultra leather case for 11 quid last time after using the last of my reward points.
I hope the rest of you get your phones soon, I'm sure you will appreciate them when they arrive.

Also a quick tip, if not already, then make sure the video recording settings in camera are set to HEVC and when you tap the text, the next screen is set to quality. HEVC (H.265) is considerably more advanced than AVC (H.264), it is 50% more efficient than AVC whilst retaining the same quality, or double the quality if the same bitrates are used (the prefer quality setting inside the HEVC settings menu). You end up with the same (if not better) image quality, whilst the file size is smaller.

More info here: https://teradek.com/blogs/articles/...65-matters-and-how-you-can-start-using-it-now

In the past I didn't use HEVC in the S22 or before because apps like WhatsApp didn't support it when sending videos to chats, but now it does so looks like the past year has allowed more widespread adoptions for HEVC.

Well thats disappointing. The installation videos I've seen on YouTube make it look like a breeze which I was a bit sceptical of!

Maybe I've just been unlucky, twice.

Like I say, it's basically the same procedure as amfilm/Apiker and I've never had an issue with those, and that's when I've applied them on bigger devices too.

Will grab another set. They do feel nice when they're on though.

I'm not sure what else I can do to avoid dust

Man the 4k30fps is not only smooth but also clean, only when it steps into the 3x zoom lens does the digital noise creep in but outside of that lens range it's all clean, there is some grain, but that's expected, it doesn't wash out detail. Really impressive.
